  1. the 207 is an 86 and earlier thing (or really early 87 but rare). what's the green lettering in the middle of the shifter? between hi-lock and N. because it looks like that's a 242 t-case (with all-wheel drive) shifter gate.
  2. I don't understand the question. any autoparts store should be able to look it up for ya. Here's Autozone's version: https://www.autozone.com/drivetrain/clutch-disc-plate/brute-power-clutch-disc-plate/329628_12536_0
  3. so glad there are some positives coming out of this for you.
  4. hopefully we'll soon have the auto-shrinking software for uploaded pics.
  5. always a good feeling to hear it fire up
  6. 5 wheel locks per rim, anti-theft bolts on the hubs, sit it on a couple jack stands and then pull all the valve cores. all kidding aside, if I had to long-term store a trailer somewhere other than my house, I just might do all that. I've got a Co2 tank so it's not a big deal to fill 'er back up.
  7. just trying to help new comers find some fun threads where members share things about themselves.
  8. our beds rot from the inside-out, so whatever you can see will be 100 times worse on the other side of the sheetmetal. 2door XJ rear wheelwells can be made to work, but they are close, not exact. plenty of owners have covered them up with bushwackers, but because it is worse inside the rust will always come back unless you deal directly with the rust behind it. Getting access is the hardest part, but protects like POR-15 can help stave off the cancer attack if you can get in there to prep and treat.
  9. ooo, I like that one. simple and to the point. or maybe it's just that I really, really want that Jeep in the picture!
  10. got my pins and patches today!
  11. well, phooey on that then.
  12. I mean the gasket where the flange bolts to the block. I'm not sure why one would exist, but I know head gaskets come in different thicknesses so maybe an exhaust gasket would too.
  13. is there such thing as a thicker exhaust gasket out there in the world?
  14. couldn't resist the cheapness so we got a 20"er for the liberty. tucked it up under the bumper. still debating removing that little bit of the bumper in front of it. it really adds to the light output of the Jeep, even with high beams on. but way too bright for use around traffic. and since I had the giant one lying around, I could help but see where it might go. it's waaaay too long for above the roof (probably a 40"er could go there) but it matches the curve of the front bumper quite well I'll likely never get one, but if I ever get to drive this Jeep out west again, I'd be hard pressed not to seriously consider it. 75mph on a freeway in the middle of antelope country needs every bit of light I can muster.
  15. I like your enthusiasm the problems with splitting up tech are 2 fold. the obvious one is the 26000 threads that would need to be sorted. The other is that the prime ways people find info here is searching and asking (as opposed to browsing). neither really needs more than one forum. It sounds like a good idea, but really it's just more work for those members answering questions. with a single forum, it's super easy to see what's new, what's been answered and what hasn't. plus we only have a handful of new posts each day. splitting it up would mean paint tech might have a new thread every couple months causing it to look static and causing eyeballs to stop looking. we need way more active members before multiple subs becomes truly useful. to see what I mean by having too many subforums, look at naxja.org 's page. I'd sooo much rather that people just ask their questions
  16. if you've got a business, feel free to post up in the vendors section
  17. I love his channel! Hilarious workshop hijinx! (educational too)
  18. If I can get this epic tech off the ground, I imagine we could add in an "other rides" tech. I just don't want a ton of subforums. Every time I see a website with 50 sub forums I get an instant headache thinking about all the clicking I'd have to do to keep up with it all. Maybe if we someday got too big for our britches, but we're small and I'd like to retain the simplicity aspect for as long as I can.
  19. technically it would go in the pub, although if it pertains to MJs in any way (we share that 4.0) then I'll usually move it to Tech. In the quest for forum simplicity, there is a bunch of gray area. But wherever you put it, POST IT UP!! I've never seen a tech question go unanswered on the CC.
  20. the popular threads forum is mostly a collection for newcomers to peruse. all those thread would have been buried long ago and I can't stand having a ton of stickies so that was the compromise I came up with one day. what we should probably do is revive them one at a time now and again to give the most recent members a chance to chime in on them.
  21. POR 15 needs the loose stuff to be removed and the surfaced to be chemically cleaned (aka remove any oilu residue), but you can definitely put it right on the rusty stuff.
  22. I was referring to the fact that few members visit the pub. they go straight for the tech forum or just use the search. that's what I meant by more eyeballs. people only go places where they find something they want, and there is a lot of competition out there for their time and attention. I don't want this place to turn into just an online library, so we need to keep up. for example: people love to share pics of their stuff. now we can do that easily. people like writeups. now we have a whole index of them (though we still need to fix links/pics that PB and the forum upgrade have neutered). plus we always need more DIY threads! I've been holding off on any sort of big announcement to the world until we get a few more bugs squared away. (plus I'm working on an idea for an Epic Tech forum. shhh... )
  23. yup, the DIY master list is what contains the link.
  24. far as I know it shouldn't. we have no popups nor are on any ad-block list. I guess the real question is, what would a newcomer like/need to see when they type in our addy?
