  1. there are several V8 swapped trucks in the Hardcore Tech subforum.
  2. I'd just plan on getting a new driveshaft made. it'll be stronger and exactly the right length.
  3. nothing special. just the vin for whatever XJ donated it's Cordovan dash to Breanne's truck.
  4. answer: less screwed than I thought. the shorter one is the column shift, the longer one is from the 4wd trans that's eventually going into the truck. ends are close enough to be the same. just gotta figure out a path for the long cable and then somehow plug up the firewall.
  5. how screwed am I that this plastic end piece has snapped? any chance it's the same linkage as the floor shift?
  6. far as I know you can't do just a dash swap. you'll need to do the complete 97+ swap, engine/harness/etc.
  7. the hole is right at the centerline

yup, just a plain ol' dual florescent 4 footer. the pic is from nearly 20 years ago, I've since upgraded to a modern LED bar.

can't remember if I ever shared this image so here's my favorite way to light the engine bay.
  10. I get 2" from the edge to the center of the hole
  11. love the cheap fixes.
  12. it's TX. how rusty can it be?
  13. car-part.com might help find a 4.10er. be sure to search for various years since the website sorts them purely by part number and that changed over the years. also look for TJ units.
  14. score! I've got so much stuff in the barn I do the same thing.
  15. it's ideas like this that make me wish I didn't have that plastic bedliner.
  16. looks good, especially with the color of the truck

    Thank you!

  18. finally got the welding done to your hitch plates using the Expedition crossbar. I love it hugs right up to the bottom of the stock bumper.
  19. has to do with the way various phones and cameras save the photo's orientation. apparently not all devices save it the same way. very weird. but I fixed it for ya. I find I can rotate the image, then rotate it back and my laptop will re-save the orientation.
  20. yup, those are the choices. none are especially awesome. -used MJ shafts are getting hard to find and most every possible drivetrain has a different length. -custom shafts from Dennys or Adams aren't especially cheap, but they are much stronger than factory. maybe you have a shop locally to you that can make one? -2wd shafts are weird and have a rubber isolator on the axle end. it's possible to shorten them (I did), but you have to cut the t-case end and then hope the rubber is still good enough after 35 years. the link in my signature has a thread with all the various MJ driveshaft lengths.
  21. always ask "why are they selling these". very possible he messed one up and is upgrading his own stuff accordingly.
  22. I think we have a thread on youtube racing vids?
  23. ujoints are ujoints and wheelbearings are wheelbearings. those sorts of things can be handled by any competent shop. it's the wiring and computers where I highly suggest getting your hands on one of NickinTime's engine monitors. finding a shop that knows a 35 year old Renix is a real long shot.
