run power and ground to it. if the ground is insufficient, the 12 volts has no where to go. oh, and corrosion can creep into the rear harness connector right behind the rear tire. if the ground wire connection inside there is kaput, the pump can't ground.

the 03-07 Libertys came with the stronger 29 spline 8.25 (disk brakes and 3.55/3.73.4.10 gears) but is actually a bit wider than the stock MJ axle rather than narrower like the 8.8. the extra width helps match the MJ's wide butt (the rear of an MJ is wider than an XJ, that's why the rear tires look tucked-in). car-part.com can help with your junkyard searches. be sure to search for various years because part numbers can change even though the swap-ability didn't and the website searches only by part number.

lol depends on if your definition of a trar is a car tweaked into a pickup, or a car placed on top of a pickup frame. one is a quaint OEM novelty and experimentation of blended automotive design, the other is routinely ridiculed for its poor execution.

I used a ton of caulk on the engine side.

I added a new ground to the harness right by the pump. 12 volts doesn't mean it can also push the amps through. but also the current crop of chinese fuel pumps can't be trusted so you may need to pull it out for a closer inspection.

that could be how it looked when new. I don't have one to compare. but I'm curious so I'm going to move this over to Tech and see what the others think. I'd hate to see you spend money when it was just a weird casting from the start.

goes right in. just don't forget down the road that any brakes/rotors/etc that you do to this new axle must be for a 98. lots of changes happened over the decades that the dana 30 was used and the individual parts aren't necessarily compatible year to year.

see, what you need is one like mine. it came with a no-more-power-outages-longer-than-a-couple-hours-ever-again guarantee. apparently. I've yet to fire that thing up for anything other than an annual test run. humor aside, I love generators. such an incredible piece-of-mind purchase.

it appears to me you have an aftermarket bumper with generic adapters that lowered it down a bit more than normal. pics of the attachment points between the bumper and frame brackets should answer what's going on.
