  1. that's usin' your noodle!
  2. just don't buy a bench without headrests. for some idiotic reason Jeep felt that the rear window was a good enough to prevent whiplash for YEARS. what was it, 1990 that MJs finally got headrests? there are other options out there too, like the late 90s Dakota split bench that several people have swapped in. supposedly it is very comfy. ZJ buckets too. heck, in my mind the late 90s were the pinnacle in seat cushioning. I really miss my 97 minivan's seats. I almost swapped some in my Liberty, but took the easy way out and put in some KK seats which are... good enough. certainly better than the rock hard KJ seats I had before.
  3. feel free to smuggle that home for me
  4. does your engine oil need to be cooled? cooling it down from operating temp changes its viscosity. I have no idea how much so I don't know if it'd be detrimental. I know that some vehicles come with them from the factory, but to me that implies the cooler was taken into account when the oil type was picked.
  5. a one inch body lift? I'm assuming you mean on your TJ, yes?
  6. yes, yes you do. or at least strip it clean of all you can fit into a big tote.
  7. seems that Classic Tube makes premade kits for MJs although only for longbeds https://classictube.com/?s=&pf_search=1&post_type=product&year_=1989&make=Jeep&model=Comanche&ton=AllTon&duty=AllDuty&drive=AllDrive&cab=AllCab&box=AllBox&engine=AllEngine&ymm_cat=BrakeLineKit
  8. and? we have a couple member's trucks exceeding 500k. engine blocks don't really just suddenly fail simply because they are old. typically it's a slower process of losing compression and oil pressure over the years. sudden failures are usually due to replaceable parts like seals, pumps or sensors. My 88 has hideously low compression and oil pressure and it still drives ok. (anything over 3500pms and the hp drops off and the blowby is so bad that I now have a big jug acting as a catch for the oil). what are your compression numbers? leakdown numbers? oil pressure? (checked with a mechanical gauge not the factory thingie in the dash that pretends to be one)
  9. 5 more posts in other forums and the classifieds will fully open up to you.
  10. as the others have said, never ever ever let a clean MJ touch salt. our trucks rot from the inside out once salt gets into the rockers, frame, bedsides and doors it's incredibly hard to get it out, if not impossible. Use something sacrificial for wintertime use. also, snow tires are more effective than 4wd on slippery roads. My old minivan dominated the snow thanks to the tires.
  11. you've got the best look' thing in that parking lot
  12. most people don't even know what a comanche is so I'm sure it'll look just fine to them

a thought occurred to me. might not be an original thought since it's been a long day and my brain is fried so apologies if someone typed it somewhere above already, but the original argument was about what different people thought was best for our site. I can think of a lot of worse things to argue over on the internet. and that makes me feel good.
  14. neat! that'd be a story for the ages.

just a calrification before I head out for my day. all I wanted from bleepin' Jeep was a build thread. no different than all the other build threads. that is not partnership. it's just another step towards collecting and cataloging all things MJ. All MJ enthusiasts are welcome. indeed she does it's just the cutest thing!

I picked a hell of a week to try and quit caffeine. made it 4 days this time too. gave up while trying in vain to fix a remote starter for a friend. just couldn't focus through the headaches. plus I've overtaxed my brain this past week anyways so there's that dragging me down too. oh, and the CC headaches are fun on top of it all. Maybe when I get to GA next week I'll try again. but anywho, if you gentleman had all said your piece, I'd love to move on and get some sleep without worrying about what I'll find here in the morning. I've got another half of a tree to cut up and stack for my cousin while she's at work. oh and that garbage disposal install. but it's all totally worth it just to get help from the 3 year old. she likes to walk up and say "you need help!" in the cutest little british accent. (she's not british, but it sure sounds that way)

I don't necessarily disagree. but this could also be just a guy looking for opinions on old Jeeps. don't know until you try.

care to be our emissary to see what it is he's looking for? if he needs some input on why we drive 30 year old trucks, I'm sure we can help.

I am also a bit leery of someone in the media randomly stopping (certainly isn't something that happens every day), but mostly my concerns are of him quoting a random member (who literally could say anything) and attributing it to the Comanche Club. But we have to be friendly with new guys. It's literally in the bylaws. I've edited the thread and opened it back up.
  21. let's try this again. welcome to the ComancheClub how can we help you today?
  22. that's gotta be interesting to drive in on your local roads!
  23. the one my folks have is soooo flimsy. I just may have to get this for them.
  24. I can send you another sticker
