  1. how heavy is the front when you try and pick it up? removing the rollbars will lighten that and adding a tailgate on the backend will lighten it still. make sure it's not under ~15% of the overall weight. (the box will help of course)
  2. the 44 was only standard on the metric ton models, but could be ordered on most any MJ.
  3. all of the various names are trim packages. the Eliminator package was about top of the line and so came with more things standard (buckets, full gauges, etc).
  4. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't envious. that's going to be sooo cool when it's done.
  5. your attention to detail with this writeup is amazing! keep it up!
  6. now lets put them together and see what happens!
  7. it gets weirder. the rear axles are steering axles
  8. very nice! moving this over to Epic
  9. XJs are cheap. why not? certainly will get you attention.
  10. bonus! I went out to poke around at the new truck and realized that the rear splash guards are in good shape. I do need that inner flare liner thing though.
  11. make sure it's both folding and 2ton.
  12. 2 ton engine hoist. well, at least I though it'd only be for lifting engines. turns out it's good for lifting all sorts of things! axles... front halves of XJs... beanbag chair sized rocks...
  13. very, very doubtful. drop-in liners tend to be quite vehicle-specific.
  14. at 10 posts, the full classifieds will open up to you. post a couple more times and then I can move this over for ya.
  15. so my new 88 has some... "issues" with the exterior plastics (crumbles in my hands). as it so happens, I have a 96 XJ available to me for parts (but it's 700 miles away). does anyone know for sure that those underside bits of black will go right in? essentially I'll need them all (except for the flare itself).
  16. what about jacking up the front tires and see if they spin by hand with the same amount of force. maybe the drag will be obvious?
  17. don't worry about the vacuum actuated part. you'll be bypassing that anyways.
  18. nice! what's up with that grille guard?
  19. that deserves a whole bunch of emoticons!
  20. yes. the axle itself will go right in. I was just mentioning that the brake parts on your 2wd axle won't move to the 4wd axle.
  21. 2wd axles have a regular bearing, not a unit bearing and if I remember right the outer race comes already pressed into the rotor. plus the 4wd brakes changed at some point in time so you'll definitely want to know the year of the XJ.
