  1. looking at this random pic from the interwebs, the bar is pretty tall at the middle and I'd say the light will still cast over most the bed.
  2. won't turn over with the starter? or won't turn over using a breaker bar? the 2.5L block went pretty much unchanged from 84-02 so any year can give you a new block
  3. other people seem to be happy with it, so I say go for it.
  4. I don't know the going rate for the old scouts these days, but back then you could definitely have afforded that one. The guy pieced it together from a half-dozen other piles of scrap, I mean Scouts, that he had. It made the trip (kinda), but was a big hunk of rusty junk.
  5. dang that is pretty sharp! be sure to start a build thread and include more pics!
  6. If you haven't yet, check out Cruisers tips. If I remember right, I believe in them is the "cure" for oil in the filter (assuming your blowby isn't completely atrocious like my old 88) should be the first link in the link in my signature.
  7. gears, gears, gears (assuming modern rigs even allow that anymore )
  8. try sending him a private message. he might get an email that way.
  9. I practically killed my metric ton springs in my old 86 by leaving an engine block in the back for a few months straight.
  10. Seems to be doing fine last I heard.
  11. a-yup. 'tis the Varmint.
  12. what about those mobile media blasters? should strip it allllllll off
  13. holy cow what a train wreck the PO left for you. I'm not a painter (beyond rattle-can) so I'll avoid that aspect, but I can tell you that pioneer decals exist in the aftermarket. how good does this need to look in the end?
  14. every possible entry point should be a suspect. windshield seal, door seal, hvac seal, rear window, cowl drain, etc. they have all leaked for someone at some time and once it's under the carpet, it can't escape.
  15. the best part of Moab is the variety of trails. there are trails that you can take a 2wd truck on! heck, there was a crown vic on the one trail when I was there. the scenery is awesome, the traction is phenomenal and it's something everyone should do at least once, even if that means flying in and renting a jeep. (there are companies out there that do organized trail runs in their wranglers)
  16. I've been giving thought to a similar framework for my MJ trailer. a bit shorter though since I don't have a cab to clear.
  17. I hate it when a Jeep disappears from the yard. It's like if a waiter swiped your food before you got to finish it. "hey! I wasn't done with that yet!"
  18. have you had the chance to install the throttle body yet?
  19. the very first thing I did when I bought my new truck was gut the interior to get the wet carpet out. the parking brake cable runs under the carpet in that moisture.
  20. I was thinking we should have a spot that brings all those scattered threads together. What topics do you think someone new to MJs or simply new to CC should read? I'll start off with the 2 I usually bring forth: The DIY project master list: The "most important tips" thread:
  21. a full cluster swap will give you a real gauge.
  22. have you pull back the carpet to check for moisture underneath yet?
