  1. wait, why do you only need one valve cover gasket? are you reusing one?
  2. all depends on what specifically you need
  3. yes, it has happened before. but usually only after pressure from the slighted country. If I remember right, I think the video I linked has a couple examples.
  4. need to change your signature to "mostly black"
  5. While 99% of the rubber gasket upgrades seem to go smooth and without hiccup, there are a couple guys out there that had wrinkles show up in the trim after installation. I've got no idea what transpired to make that happen though.
  6. yeah, unfortunately DI crap is all a... necessary evil (for lack of a better term). It's a huge, multinational treaty and chances are slim it's going to change anytime soon. there are ways around the paperwork and you can see that in action as the family is trying to sue the US over it. In the end they might get something. I do wonder how car insurance works over there. by all accounts this appears to be an accident, and I'm guessing the car she was driving was insured.
  7. if you get a free moment, could I get a part number off that AX-4?
  8. do we know if that's the case? are we sure that the 4.2L harness wasn't a "special" harness? either way, with the correct diagrams anything is possible
  9. I've got no dog in this hunt and so will fall back to my default opinion of "it's terribly tragic and I'm sure something will happen after everything runs its course". but also I wanted to add that this is a decent explanation of Diplomatic immunity in general for those who may not already know the nuances:
  10. I've never heard of a 4.78 ratio so I'm doubtful. but you MUST do a full build thread! we need details and way more pictures!
  11. ouch! well, at least you stopped it before anything caught fire. a short is always a possibility. what else flows through the switch? dash lights?
  12. yeah, that was my second thought , right after "what the hell is this!?" They don't have to be perfect, as the truck is far from perfect.
  13. was up in the barn digging through boxes to see if I had any MJ switchplates (apparently I never grabbed the plates when I grabbed the cargo lights? ) and found these 2 beauties. with me, every day is a new day full of (re)discoveries. I wonder what other gems await exposure to the sunlight...
  14. I know it's common to go in the other direction, swapping easily-available XJ stuff into either 2.5 or 4.2 YJs, but off the top of my head I can't think of someone that actually went through with a YJ-into-XJ swap. But that doesn't necessarily say much because my brain sucks. So I go to google a lot, and on this particular effort I get TONS of XJ-into-YJ that floods the results. I've not yet found anything useful for ya.
  15. I'd need to see some proof of that. the bellhousing bolt patterns are completely different on both sides of the bellhousing. I don't even know how anyone could adapt one to the other.
  16. Sema builds are just better at hiding the ugly
  17. love it! absolutely can't wait for a video!
  18. seems like an afternoon in a junkyard with an HO XJ would help immensely.
  19. I wonder if you can splice in wiring to make 91+ XJ gauges work?
  20. what about this one? https://www.extremeterrain.com/mammoth-boulder-charcoal-17-9-J100615.html
  21. same as most of those atrocities. attention.
  22. there's a reason why you won't find many YJ/TJ to MJ/XJ swaps. they are way harder because the vehicles share everything, but nothing at the same time. An XJ harness will go a long way towards simplifying your life.
  23. waaaaay back in the day my first MJ did that a lot. 99% or the occurrences were just corrosion in the battery cables. clean the contact surfaces and we're good to go again. Then I got a gel battery and it never happened again.
