  1. it's called: what is this and why is it on my desktop. I don't have the part (that I know of), just a photo. on my desktop. for reasons I no longer remember.
  2. well done! when you're ready, I'll move it over to the DIY forum and add it to the master list.
  3. that's a sexy Jeep right there.
  4. I split/moved your last post over to tech so more eyes will see it.
  5. success! but I've run out of daylight so I'll wrap it up tomorrow.
  6. life is full of fun little setbacks. This is a pic of the inner end of the 2 tierods. it would appear that '05 KJs have different steering parts than '06. well, at least now I can put the original in a vice to see if I can free it up.
  7. whoops, I mean the entire axle shaft since my original one doesn't seem to want to split into its 2 pieces. thankfully There's no opening of the diff to do all this.
  8. in today's adventure we celebrate how nice it is to have a spare drivetrain lying around. Stole these from the spare CRD pile o' parts to fix my shaft damaged boot and adjust my alignment a bit. also on the docket is replacing the rear bump stops with some junkyard bits in better shape.

I promise, you don't want to try and salvage stock floors. they are... in there. like with a million spot welds. I'd much rather start scratch with sheetmetal and a hammer.
  10. you should start a new thread in the Tech forum for your questions. CJs are a 5 on 5.5 pattern. MJs area 5 on 4.5 pattern. photos can be uploaded from your phone or from the laptop using the "choose files" tab found below the text box.
  11. getting close!
  12. there's only one manufacturer of carpets (ACC). So find whichever reseller has the best price and go for it.
  13. I think we might have a disconnect here. When most guys say that "you won't get your money back", they mean that the cost of labor + parts won't get automatically added to the value of the vehicle. but (assuming the mods were done well with good parts) some value will get added to the rig. If you add a $4000 paint job to a $2000 truck, you won't get a $6000 truck, but you can get maybe a $4000 truck. maybe? Essentially the parts/labor depreciates, but the truck will gain some value.

    CC Handles

mine came about because all the Jeep sites waaaaaaay back in the day already had "Pete" taken so I had to add a thing to it. And when we started CC, I kept it for some reason.
  15. message me an address and I'll send ya one
  16. ok, that was a somewhat poor example because of warranties. There are still a lot of guys that buy used "built" rigs because they already "look cool". It's just not me. Nothing I've ever bought was seriously modded in any way (unless you count the whole-sale gutting of a couple of the MJs).
  17. holy crap that would have been a real head smacker if you got it back from manufacturing and couldn't put the cards in. glad you caught that.
  18. does the value go up beyond the price of the car + the parts still new in boxes? Used parts are used parts. and Jeep parts tend to be used and abused. nature of the beast and all that I guess. there most definitely is a portion of the Jeeping community that values a Jeep that is already "built" (and I leave that term up to interpretation). If there wasn't than I wouldn't see so many "built" wranglers being sold through dealerships.
  19. it certainly sounds like it happens once per revolution and it's identical each time.
  20. can you watch the flywheel spin while it cranks?
