  1. yes. car-part.com can help locate the trans and then you can call and see if they still have the mount and crossmember.
  2. in the most basic of terms, yes. if the XJ had power door features, now's the time to contemplate that upgrade too.
  3. most old Jeep parts are "dumb". they don't really know or care if certain other parts are missing. more modern cars are "smart" and the trans may not be able to function if there's a missing torque output path. which of course begs the question, how hard is a 4wd swap? also, check car-part.com
  4. dang! my mom still gets nervous when the big boys roll into town now that she lives in a house with no basement.
  5. if you want premium money for your particular truck, it's an excellent selling point. maximum modernity with the classic good looks.

what you see is what we got. the rest of the build sheet is lost to us.
  7. I reused the TJ mounting bracket, but then I also made a custom crossmember for it to go on. If you can drill holes and make it work, than life is grand
  8. the link in my sig has all sorts of swap details in it if you want to swap just the block. the 96 shares no wires and no connectors with a renix Jeep. but it is a superior quality of all those parts. it's definitely an upgrade and the 96 has the old-school dash to help make it easier.
  9. the single greatest bump in the seat-of-your-pants acceleration will come from a regear of the axle(s).
  10. if you're wanting the fuel injection and wiring, you're going to be swapping alllllll of it. nothing is compatible between the MJs and the OBD2 stuff.
  11. rust free ones still exist out there in junkyardland. just need to find a southern/western 'yard that will ship. you can try your luck at car-part.com
  12. I can't tell you how many times my meter has gone "beeeep" and I'm like, "what the heck was that"?
  13. 225 or 255? the 4spd is likely the problem here. not the trans itself, but the fact that a 4spd manual truck came with wimpy 3.55 gears instead of the 4.10s that a 2.5L/5spd would get.
  14. what aspect of the leafs is bad? rust? sag? broken leafs?
  15. can you snap a photo of what you're seeing? because normally the transmission mount bolts to the transmission. sometimes via a weird plate, but still to the transmission. the t-case hangs off the back of the transmission. are you trying to use a YJ transmission mount plate?
  16. the AX-15 crossmember has a drop in the center and I believe mounts to a different location on the frame. nothing mounts to the transfercase but the driveshafts.
  17. any multimeter is better than no multimeter, but I do recommend a self-ranging version. plus the more you spend, the more toys it has for you to play with.
  18. do you have an AX-15 crossmember? and which holes/studs did you use to mount it?
  19. is it possible to simply drill some holes where you need them?
  20. it's only a single example, but I looked up MCA (supposed to be front bumper guards but is always wrong) and on that site it does show as bumper guards.
  21. I feel less special if the link has been in your sig for a while now.
  22. does that mean I'm special now? I've discovered a secret of the Chrysler!
  23. I didn't find it in a search. a cherokee owner on the FB shared it.
