2dr Laredo at a local junkyard. curious as to how early of an 87 it is since it has a 4.0 but the front hood prop

I did discover a lot of spray foam inside the otherwise nice passenger door (noise issues?), and the 4.0 engine has a front hood prop. I grabbed the vin so we could see just how early of an 87 it is. also someone's stash of walnuts...

while we're all waiting impatiently for Eaglescout to share his NOS finds, here's my haul for the day. went on a quickie run to a junkyard that had 12 Libertys to grab some tow hooks or skids, and 11 were 2wd and the other was already robbed of the hooks. (still scored a t-case skid). but then I spied an 87 Laredo XJ and beat myself up in the georgia summertime for a few hours. totally worth it and if you're wondering how I stuffed all that into the Libby... I didn't. had to put the front seats on the roof rack. but that's why I have a roof rack not pictured is a steering wheel (someone tore the column apart and ruined it, but left the wheel on the floor), donut spare tire cover, visors, TB, and a bunch of little brackets. miiiight go back another day for the front bumper and the 21 spline 242 t-case. maybe.

you cannot use these for brake lines because they are not made for that amount of pressure, but the clutch line is a lot less and so I don't mind suggesting it.

nice! does the tape deck work? I've seen some new adapters that go right in and give you bluetooth.

I used a brass compression fitting to adapt my old metal clutch line to the plastic line of the new trans. but I also lucked out and had a bleeder on the external slave. apparently they didn't all have them.

I might be in your neck of the woods for a short time in a week or two

congrats! the 44 was offered outside of the metric ton package. there's a disk writeup in the link in my signature. your 8.25 lengthed driveshaft should work fine with it.

when you're back on the road, practice shifting without the pedal a bit. ya never know when it might come in handy.

not sure how I missed this but apparently Metallica did another concert with the San Fran orchestra last year. It's on Spotify so it looks like I've got a soundtrack for tomorrow's drive maybe if I had known about this sooner I'd have installed that subwoofer in the KJ last year instead of last month!

still a chance that it's the master. I drove my '90 home after losing all the clutch fluid inside of 10 minutes of leaving the guy's house that sold it to me. thankfully it was a cheap truck and I knew how to drive the hard way. I's also driven an extended period of time being stuck in 3rd gear after the peugeot in my 88 blew up. where there's a will, there's a way with the old technology.

honestly with a little practice you can drive it without the clutch. put it in first, start cranking and the truck will start lurching forward under the power of the starter motor and eventually catch and you drive off. after that you just need to match engine rpm and you can shift into the gears without the clutch pedal. the big problem is if you come to a stop, you need to shut off the engine and start the process again to get rolling. It's a pain, but will work in a pinch if you're in a place with few stops.

if it moves fine through the gears with the engine off, than it's likely clutch related. the clutch reservoir is in the engine bay right next to the brake booster. I think it's a push and twist cap.

true, but parts can be replaced so you don't know without checking. I was told repeatedly that a 2000 TJ wouldn't have a bleeder screw and yet, there it was.

does it have thickness that protrudes into the engine bay? if so, how much of the hood bracing might need to be cut?

what are the dimension of it?
