  1. Yup. I routed turn signal duty to the little trailer lights. Looks like all that turkey and pie has affected my brain and I can't tell the diff between i and img. :D
  2. I don't remember seeing a fullsize Jeep pickup anywhere. But we didn't get to pull up every car cover and I'm sure there's more to see in other buildings.
  3. Nothing fancy here, just big and brutish (and cheap). The bumper mounts are more important than the bumper itself if you've looking to winch off it. I intend to make a receiver platform for my future winch so it can go in the front or back. About half the time I've been stuck, backwards was a better option than forwards. http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL91/512063/7859168/103751626.jpg
  4. All it does is makes the passenger side into a one piece axleshaft, just like every other Jeep since the early 90s (XJ stopped in ~92, wrangler stopped in 95). It does not give you AWD. You t-case will still function exactly like it does now.
  5. If it's longer than you need, then yes, it can be cut down.
  6. Notice how long the bumper brackets are. This is good for strength when extracting from the mud, as well as stiffening up the front end. The cracks I speak of happen in the frame between the steering box and the track bar bracket. Rick (xjs4ever) had that crack and after welding it up, made a brace that runs from the track bar bracket to the opposing side. I don't have any pictures of that on hand though.
  7. How old are your shocks?
  8. I was once a self-taught machinist. There was a small millling machine at one of my prior employers and I needed to use it but no one showed me much of anything beyond turning it on. It can be a dangerous piece of machinery and should demand respect. Out of ignorance I've shot my fair share of steel across the room. Then in college I took a machining course and learned all about feeds and speeds. The machinist handbook is your friend. A full face guard and cutting oil are also your friends.
  9. Well, there's a one inch difference between the auto and manual so the front d-shaft should be fine and the rear will suddenly be 1 inch shorter than it is now.
  10. Gotta do something about that rear bumper. did you ever get that chrome front from the j-yard?
  11. Your CAD (central axle disconnect) probably isn't engaging. Most guys just bypass the problematic vacuum systems and shim it to be engaged all the time (making it just like all the Jeeps that never came with a CAD). See here for how to do that: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=12795
  12. It is certainly possible for XJs to develop cracks in the unibody that can cause problems. This usually takes an extreme amount of flexing over time (think rock crawlers), but has happened in lesser rigs too (pretty rare though). An MJ frame is waaaaay stronger than an XJ (designed to carry 2200 pounds after all) and I don't remember ever hearing of it developing crack anywhere but around the steering box (not due to flex, but due to the push-pull of the steering vs the track bar). I suggest a support similar to the C-rok brace or just a good strong bumper that hold the front frame rails together (like mine).
  13. Are you adding lift too? I know the rear shaft will be an inch too short.
  14. If you're trying to post an image, you'll need an address that looks like this: http://farm4.static.flickr. com/3231/3062280048_419f6124bc_o.jpg And then highlight it and click the IMG tag above the text box so [ img] appears before it and [ /img] appears after it. I got the above address by clicking on a pic, then right-clicking and hitting "copy image location". In the end it'll show up as:
  15. Slaughter house is loads of fun. But being that I'm like a thousand miles away, I'll have to pass this time. :(
  16. A 4wd MJ already has a HP Dana 30 up front. :hmm:
  17. I reposted a couple half way down page 2.
  18. Having some full names would make that infinitely easier though... :( Maybe W.F.C. has some in his paperwork. :dunno:
  19. The leafs were modified. The third leaf down was cut off behind the axle. I ssumed they were stock 2wd MJ, but can't say for sure. No ideas on the front coils though. The only info we have is those old photos. Nothing else has been found by the Chrysler archives. :(
  20. Yeah, I think some of you are jumping to conclusions. I once accidentally found myself on one of the "quad trails" at The Badlands in Attica, IN (not that hard since the trails are poorly marked and the map sucks). It was a tight fit but we got through it. No one got mad at us (the one quad guy that tried to give us directions back to the 4x4 area seemed quite sympathetic to our plight). No lands were going to be shut down. Heck, very few plants were even harmed. It was a learning experience for sure.
  21. Curiouser and curiouser. I'm using the same and don't have that hiccup. :hmm:
  22. I imagine most everything is viewable at one time or another at the Chrysler museum near their headquarters building in Auburn Hills, MI. Personally though, no museum could possibly hold a candle to a huge room full of car covers. It's like christmas. Not knowing what's under each wrapper til you peek.
  23. Interesting. What email service are you using? I guess I'm thankful it tells you who sent it. That way you can at least reply with a PM.
  24. Meh,, the stock bumper bolts are only there to keep the stock bumper from falling off on the freeway. I'd probably just skip it. Or better yet, buy/make a better one.
  25. I went back and copied them and hosted them myself. This is only temporary though, and he still needs to figure out what happened (and more importantly, get some better pics  ).
