  1. I-75 pretty much the whole way. It's a 12 hour drive so I'm not sure how keen my dad will be on adding significant time to that anyways. :(
  2. I leave for atlanta (Loganville actually) on Weds and will be there until early January. Anyone have any thoughts on a meet-n-greet day/location?
  3. I'll be in Georgia for a while at my parents' house. I'll have internet access, but I won't be on quite as often. I'm bring the CC swag down with me so I can still mail that out is anyone needs something. I can't wait to be down there for long enough to actually hit up the junkyards. Be forewarned GA, I'm raiding all your Jeep parts. :D I'm thinking we should probably have a GA meet and greet. :D I'll start a post in the wheelin/trips forum.
  4. Sleep apnea was the most likely cause of all my brain issues back in 02. (What caused me to have the apnea was related to the 6 months of fighting mono). Too bad none of the Doctors I saw (tired all the time, memory problems, vision problems, attention span problems, never dreaming) even thought about a sleeping issue. I can only imagine how my life would be now if I hadn't dug myself that deep of a hole. Sleep apnea is not something to take lightly. :(
  5. I threw a battery in it, drove it across the street to park it for the next month, then returned the battery to the minivan. :(
  6. Just to avoid confusion, he's not talking about me. He means the other Pete (WFC). :D
  7. I recommend PB blaster or other spray penetrant. Works infinitely better than WD-40 for stuck bolts.
  8. And a word of warning. 3.07 gears suck, even with a 4.0 in front of them. But the Dana 44 is a good place to invest your money and that price sounds good if everything you need is in decent shape. Be prepared that you will have to swap over just about everything so make sure everything is in order. If it were me, I'd probably keep looking for an XJ donor that already has the engine/trans/t-case you're looking for (all-wheel-drive is out there if you find one with a 242 t-case). It'll make for a much smoother swap (there are some wiring differences between 4.0/stick and 4.0/autos).
  9. It might be that they take a t55. I don't have one to compare. I only have the t50. :( But it is apparently close enough that it has worked so far. A rust penetrant spray is recommended for those bolts.
  10. That's kinda harsh man. Flying a brick down the freeway at top speed and then complaining it sucks too much gas? :( Those Jeeps are likely running 4.10s. You've likely got 3.55s. That's a huge difference.
  11. A lot of guy's lights have minds of their own. Most years are set off by a vacuum switch in the engine bay over on the passenger side somewhere that is prone to sticking in one position or the other. It's a fairly pointless light that can be on when in 2wd or off when in 4wd. Unless something is broken in the t-case or the shifter linkage is misaligned, when you shift into 2wd, you will be in 2wd.
  12. I just ran out and checked, and the one I've been using is a t50.
  13. No. It is a vital piece of equipment. It tells the computer where the engine is in its rotation. Without it, the computer won't fire the engine. Which is a good thing, 'cause all sorts of very bad things would happen if the computer fired the sparkplugs and injectors at the wrong times.
  14. I was thinking 50. One or the other anyway. A couple years back I bought a set of craftsman torx that are embedded in sockets. Guaranteed forever. :D
  15. Dunno. Maybe 6x10? They are "mini vent windows" that were designed to go at the back of a van.
  16. 4wd MJ coils and leafs would swap right in and give about an inch of boost (assuming they are in good shape).
  17. amateurs... :D
  18. It's a lot of weight to drag around everywhere you go. I don't even keep gas in the cans anymore. I've never needed them and so I just used the gas in them one day and never filled them up again. They're just there for looks now.
  19. Behind this cover on the passenger side of the axle is your CAD (central axle disconnect). Inside is a little fork that slides a collar over to engage the passenger side axleshaft. Jeep, in all their wisdom, came up with this problematic contraption to try and save some gas (which it doesn't). There are a couple of methods to keep the fork engaged all the time and should fix your problem. That's what this link was for: ---> viewtopic.php?f=2&t=12795
  20. The truck should have a TBI fuel injection, not a carb.
  21. Make sure the cleaner you use is o2 sensor safe.
  22. Clogged cat? Does your EGR work ok?
  23. I stand by my statement that gearing is the problem and gearing is the solution. If you've got bigger than stock tires you will want to do that regardless of what engine you have. 3.07 and 3.55 ratios should never have been offered in Jeeps. :( But if you're dead set on swapping drivetrains, go buy a 4.0L XJ that has a good drivetrain and start swapping over everything (and I mean everything, including the hood, radiator support and radiator). You'll have more power than the 3.4 and most everything will bolt-in. And then you'll still not have enough gearing. It'll be better with the added power, but still not ideal if you've got bigger tires.
  24. I fixed that first post for ya. Click on the edit button to see what it should look like. Try to keep the photo addresses on separate lines in your post. It can be tough to get them right if they are all jumbled together.
  25. Pull the seat out (there are 4 bolts and they all take a 13 mm socket) Undo the female end of the seatbelt from the floor (takes a very large torx bit) If you've got a bench, then you'll need to feed the belt down through the seat.
