  1. Stock is 5.25" Buying a used kit might be your best bet. Is there a particular reason you need 33s right now? Is the truck your daily driver? Does it see any freeway travel? Are the tires 33x12.5 or 33x10.5? What's your engine/trans? What are you doing for gearing?
  2. If I was going through the effort to swap in a diesel engine, I'd get a brand new tank and fuel pump to go with it. No reason to screw around with 20 year old gunk buildup and a 20 year old pump.
  3. He's saving them for an 18 wheeler project. :D
  4. I believe 10-W40 is what Chrysler calls for in the AX-15s these days.
  5. Changed the fuel filter lately?
  6. I haven't clicked on the link, but I'm betting it's of the 401 powered MJ. :D
  7. Yup. Rick had a crack develop in his old 86 and it was rust-free and running 31s. Some sort of support along that frame rail is a good thing.
  8. I don't really have anything to add to this photo, but here it is regardless.
  9. The 4wd light is triggered by vacuum. It doesn't necessarily mean the t-case is actually in 4wd. Are you sure the vacuum lines are all in the right spot? Did you properly adjust the linkage?
  10. Steering slop is caused by all sorts of things. Adjusting the steering box is the LAST thing on the check list. Track bar is first.
  11. You couldn't pay me to put a 3" lift sans LCAs on one of my MJs. The tire gets pulled back in the wheelwell with the stock arms.
  12. Yes, the 2.8L is a GM engine (that Jeep borrowed until their 4.0L was ready).
  13. Or the alternator has a poor connection to the truck (as in my 88).
  14. You guys aren't seriously arguing about an inch are you? :shake: (or more precisely, a half-inch of rolling radius) FWIW, MJs came with anywhere from 195s to 225s.

    MJ Pictures?

You can buy a harness that gives him a bit of freedom in the bed, but restrains him in case of a mishap.
  16. I doubt that running it for 5 minutes won't even recharge the juice it took to start the truck in the first place. I suspect a bad battery. Take your battery to an auto parts store. Most will check it for free. If you have a multimeter, you can easily check to see if the alternator is putting out enough voltage.
  17. The 2.8L died (thank goodness) at the end of the 86 model year.
  18. Pretty sweet aren't they. :D
  19. I don't know. But then, I'm not the cops. 8) Some guys do it themselves, others have a shop do it. It's all up to you.
  20. Don't know. Can't be much though. Call and ask around your area. Because unscrupulous individuals can roll back the odo and sell a 200k miles car as a 100k miles car. Essentially, the government doesn't trust regular people to do it properly. If a shop does it and you have the paperwork, your tail is covered.
  21. You can try lubing it as best you can. Make sure you lube the rest of it too. I use PB blaster to free it up and get it moving, then lithium grease for long-term frictionlessness (technical term).
  22. Questions should really go in the Tech forum.
  23. Depends on what went wrong. Did the center pivot mechanism stick? Did the cable stick? Did you rip the pull handle off? (like so many of us do. :( )

    Yahoo[BOT]

The major search engines have these little "bots" that go out and retrieve info for use in their databases. I'm told that, unless they are eating up bandwidth, they are perfectly harmless.
