What hemi cars weren't there? :clapping: Honestly, so much info was thrown at me that day I remember very little. I sooooo wish I could have taken just a few pictures. :( I remember there was a couple Willys, a last-year Grand Wagoneer, the last XJ to roll off the line, a dozen Vipers (some race winners), the 2 Little Red Trucks, an old fullsize dodge baja truck, All the hemi powered creations from a while back (snowblower, grille, etc), a really really old hemi powered siren alarm, a huge turn of the century truck, a bunch of the 60s muscle cars (I remember one very nice hemi challenger), a super bird or daytona (in rough shape), just about every concept car from the last 3 decades, one of the turbine cars (and 7 engines to go with it), the last TJ (as well as a couple others), a Nash Rambler, a few old cop cars, and the list could go on and on. I really wish my memory was better than it is. :( Maybe W.F.C. remembers more.

All problems are fixable. Get some door seals from a 97+ XJ. Where exactly are the rattles coming from? What trans and tire size do you have? Do you have a bucket or bench? We're here to help you out, but you need to provide more info. :thumbsup: Find me another truck that's rated for 2000 pounds in the bed (when equipped with the big ton package of course). :D

I like to think that all Jeeps and 4x4s get to go play at least a little. It makes me sad to think that the Thunderchief hasn't had a day of fun in it's life. :( At least the LSR-2 got it's day of glory. :clapping:

What if he's a sand guy? I know people that love the sand, but don't do much else with their trucks (usually for fear of getting the paint scratched :shake: ).

If the truck is rusty underneath, I wouldn't even try to undo the rear bumpstops. I snapped off all bu one bolt. I would recommend just adding something to the axle side (exactly how that's done depends on the situation at hand).

I concur. I don't mind the rim size, but those particular ones make it look like a matchbox truck. :ack:

A few thoughts/questions: I've never had an easy manifold gasket job on any vehicle ever. Please don't hold that against your truck. Why precisely does your truck suck on the highway? It might just need some maintenance. Why would you think that a different 20 year old truck would be better than this particular 20 year old truck? It's 20 years old. Give it the TLC that it's asking for and it'll grow on you. :thumbsup:

Also, I would have taken all my valuables out of it if I had to abandon it for the night.

The original Gameboy FTW! :D Still have it, still works, still like the few games I bought back when I had a broken ankle.. I also have a play station 2 (the grand thefts, socom2 and a couple other things) and the ol' N64 (bunch of stuff for it but if I ever fired it up I'd be playing GoldenEye) Plus I'm borrowing my buddy's 360 while he's out of town for a while. If I'm ever on line, it'll be playing Halo3.

I believe the top one is the tach reset and the bottom is the tach recall. This building is not an accidental group of rare cars that was discovered. They were all brought there for historical preservation. I doubt they would have anything to do with the current financial crisis. There's a ton of history there. And I promise it won't go poof the first time it gets wet, as they washed it for us. :D Over all the truck is very solid. The leaf springs and traction bars were really the only bad spots. But it still could use a bit of attention. Too bad it has to get in line behind cars worth millions. :shake: I'd certainly volunteer to clean it up some afternoon. :yes:

I'm not sure I'd trade my MJs for a Dodge that's missing most of the stuff that made it special. :(

If someone sends an email directly from this site, it shows up with the generic email address (it used to show up with my email addy but I got too many replies that didn't have anything to do with me so I had to change it). But when I get an email like you did, all I have to do is hit the reply button in Hotmail and it puts the persons real email address in the To: spot. Does that not happen with your email service?

I saw a pair of mint Red Wagons at the Chrysler building. I'd trade for one of them in a heatbeat. But I wonder how much quality you can get for only 2500 bucks. :dunno: We're going to need pictures. :D

No pics of the other MJs. We were only allowed to film the one truck. The cars are put on display when needed. I gathered that this was a storage and restoration location. And I learned of this the same way you all did (or could have). W.F.C. posted on page 6 of his thread that he was going to visit the truck. I asked if I could join and was fortunate enough to get tag-a-long permission. :banana:

"Worlds fastest Comanche" knows more about the details of the test than I do. :hmm: But I believe it should be an 87 truck (like most vehicles, 87s came out in late 86 and engineers would have had test mules much earlier in that year). I didn't think to snap a shot of the VIN. :doh: Nope. This is at a discrete storage facility on a different chunk of Chrysler property. The building doesn't have a name, sign or even an address as far as I can tell. :dunno:

Yup, that's a Dana 35 under there. Also there's a Peugeot backing the 4.0L.

The windshield wipers were apparently removed and the air intake was routed into the drivers side housing.

First my photos of the photos they found in the truck: Rumor has it that the block off covers aren't allowed in the official final run.

Our fellow member, World's Fastest Comanche, wanted to see the original and was able to set up an inspection, (which turned into a tour). He can fill in more info when he finally gets home (doesn't live anywhere near here). I asked if I could tag along and fortunately the guy at Chrysler agreed. :clapping: I can't believe all the times I've driven right by those buildings and never knew what was in them. :roll: I'm working on the pics and will have them up shortly.
