Control Arms/sway bar discos
Crash replied to zomeizter's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Most of them are basically the same. I picked up this set. Rubicon Express RE9900 Control Arm Drop Bracket for Jeep XJ https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006GJKBXK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_GiGlzbNPGNEVP Looks like the price is slighty higher at 182$. But free ship. -
I believe that the apparatus can be installed 4 ways. Try to place inside by hand, gear only and see which way the cover should be installed.

Crash replied to cromanyak's topic in Vendors- members making products for MJs
Wish there were flex/pro fit available. I don't wear adjustable hats anymore. -
Shipping cost to 93444? Or 93401 or 93420 to business if cheaper? Thanks.

Control Arms/sway bar discos
Crash replied to zomeizter's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Not usually that expensive for the brackets. Unless you buy a kit with arms. I bought my RE drop brakets on amazon for about 160$ IIRC. -
I run ZJ park brake cables on my 8.8.

With as much lift as you will have, I recommend running control arm drop brackets with short arms. -

I used the spring plate/shock mounts from the exploder donor vehicle. Works fine.

True 4-link front long arm kit
Crash replied to IronManche87's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
For what it's worth. I have mid arm 3 link on my xj, and cad brackets and adjustable arms on my mj. They both ride nicer than stock. The brackets put your arms at close to the same angle as they are stock. I also paid about the same for both setups. Otherwise I may have gone mid/long arms again. -

I think, for what you want, drop brackets are going to be just fine paired with some decent/nice aftermarket control arms. -

Neither is a Comanche body with a Chevy engine in it. Neither is a Comanche body with a Chevy engine in it. According to the registration it is. :P Neither is a Comanche body with a Chevy engine in it. So all the 2.8L Comanches are fakes?AMC clearly did anything they wanted/could. And yes, some early ones had GM engines in them. Just because you like or dislike something does not make it good or bad. LSx based engines, for the most part, are reliable and produce really decent amount of power. Also, there are plenty options around. To reliably build a 4.0 based stroker to run on pump gas, high power, and reliable is going to cost quite a bit of cash. Not to say that an LSx swap on a budget is not a difficult task. However, most are run on 87/equivalent low octane with high power output. But any of these swaps, with a proper tune, will run on any grade of fuel you desire. From an 'I need my vehicle to pass inspection' POV, a 4.0 replacement or stroker makes more sense as no one knows the difference. I do appreciate and respect my 4.0L, but depending on specific application and use an LSx is a very valid option in my eyes.

If you can, get a decent set of late model XJ 4dr seals. They are thicker. I have some in my MJ and XJ
-
or they can just swap to another truck native V8 entirely... Another truck isn't an MJ though..
-
Did you buy the Crown one or one of the other 'inexpensive' ones? Either way, a good deal considering. Definitely on my list of things to upgrade, but 4WD swap comes first.

auto TPS on a 5 speed truck??
Crash replied to tjbuggie's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Auto TPS will work for manual. I forget if it is over here or NAxJA, but someone found a TPS from an 80's GM vehicle that usually only costs 25$ or less. Just need to swap pins in connector or make a harness. -
My renix MJ came from factory without AC so it has stock delete bracket. I also have a renix XJ that I swapped in stock delete bracket from AC, since AC did not work. Since easier to find, you could swap a HO bracket and AC delete bracket.

If yoh have a speaker bar, try it. I have one I was going to put in my XJ, but I might toss it in the MJ.
