Throttle Position Sensor Issues, '91 Ho
HOrnbrod replied to gogmorgo's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I still have my original TPS as it's never gone bad, at least in the 12 years I've had it. I've switched it around to different throttle bodies, and cleaned it up a few times, but have not had to replace it - yet. :dunno: Take care to salvage the gasket if you can - they are hard to find. -
Late Model Fenders ... Early Model Flares?
HOrnbrod replied to Rockfrog's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I've never seen the old flares used with the new clip, but that doesn't mean it can't be done. I do know the old bumper can be used - looks good too. . -
She's gorgeous Jay, the trailer too. Looks to be in super condition.

The Renix computer resets every time you turn the IGN key to OFF. Unhooking the battery cables does nothing.
-
That must be a major PITA.
-
Then we're exactly the same except I have 3" OME coils up front. The rear ends are the same.
-
Looks like more than 3" Johnny. Those are about 31" tires I guess? Maybe it's the front wheel well that makes it look higher than it really is. Nice stance though.
-
Thought you were going lower Johnny, si?

I'm curious. Why the dash as well? To be honest, I haven't spent any real time inside of a XJ that's post-96. The old style dash and newer door panels are of different styles and don't look "right" together. Never noticed that Johnny. :hmm: I wouldn't mind switching to the newer larger mirrors, but unfortunately I've never seen them in chrome. I like my wing windows too. To each his own............

Saginaw Column Shifter Spring Replacement #?
HOrnbrod replied to big66440's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
What were your symptoms with the broken spring? Shift lever flopping around? -
Then why did you start it?

^^ This. W/o a wiring diagram you're just guessing. If you know how to troubleshoot with the fuel distribution schematic, here it is: https://onedrive.live.com/view.aspx?cid=C40904CFDA278A46&resid=C40904CFDA278A46!140&app=WordPdf&wdo=1

Glad it was perfect for you.

Hell Creek is a good option for the 9/16" D44 U-bolts w. high-nuts. Better price than anything local for me.
-
I installed power windows in my rig using the same doors and made my own harnesses. The wiring is the same for both basically. I don't consider the newer doors an "upgrade" unless you do the whole dash with it. But that's just me.

Lazy Man's Mj Nose Job
HOrnbrod replied to RochesterMJ's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
Yes. they had a batch of NOS Export parking lights for awhile, and sold all of them quickly. There's plenty of aftermarkets out there though. -
OP's from Canada, maybe that's average rust for an Ontario truck. I wouldn't even waste batteries taking pics of it. But y'all missed the biggest reason not to buy - it has a Fram oil filter on it.
-
What are you driving in Gods Country? Hopefully you just smoked the fuel pump ballast resistor by leaving the key on, but guessing since we know nothing about your MJ. Edit your signature please............
-
Have you verified the no pressure with gauges? Can you hear the pump run?
-
Thanks Hornbrod, I just can't seem to log in here as often as Id wish but if you have a FB account send me a Friend Request, so that way you can see more pics and some video footage! haha Rolf! No Facebook account for moi - ever. I'll just wait until you get the time to post up here.

What 'upgrade' Fuel Injectors Do I Purchase? '92 4.0L
HOrnbrod replied to Rohls's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You used these 39# injectors designed for the 98 and below log-type intake manifold in your 2000 XJ w. the "horseshoe" intake and 49# of regulated injector pressure? And all is well? The link I used was for what the OP needed I did not want to give him a link to what I bought as they would be wrong (unless you use adapters). They are however from the same ebay seller. Missed that part - sorry. I have an 01 intake manifold installed on the stroker and am still using the 91 fuel rail and OBD1 electrics so the "703" Bosch injectors w. the EV1 Jetronic connector is the correct replacement injector for me too. I've been using the 96-'99 XJ # 53030778 Grey top injectors (49psi @ 23.2lb/hr) single hole injectors for about six years and am thinking of upgrading to the 4-hole type as you did. What improvements are the most noticeable so far for you? -
