  1. Here's what I bought. Trailer connector It says it's a custom fit, but let's be real. I also ordered a new FEY bumper cause my stock one will be going on the trailer. I plan on cutting out a hole and mounting this next to the plate instead of hanging down.
  2. The receptacle I bought has a 4 pin on one side and the 7 on the other, let me see if I can find it.
  3. I've bought a 7 pin for my truck and the Comanche bed trailer I'm building as I want brakes on it. You'll need a stand alone brake controller to utilize the trailer brakes. As far as wiring find what wires do what on the trailer and match them to the corresponding wires when you put the connector on the truck. I plan on making a jumper kinda like @88mjsally does out of a spare tail light harness I have.
  4. Here's mine in use on my camping trip to Colorado and on it's new temporary home.
  5. Yeah I have a factory brush guard and a factory harness on my truck and it reaches the lights fine.
  6. I'll also be in for an 86 style harness when they're available.
  7. There's so many sweet cars lost to time. My mom's first car was a 72 Nova SS with a 392 that got bought for like a couple hundred and I'm pretty sure it got crushed. She also had a 73 Toyota Celica GT fastback in caution yellow with a 5 speed that got totaled back in the day.
  8. Ok, according to the dead website link it was a J300, similar but different. Extended cab not a 4 door and supposedly a Canadian FS truck not US according to this CC thread. Vintage trucks just look so cool with that color, this is a little dark but dang close to USFS green.
  9. What originally made me want to paint it that color was I saw a picture of a quad cab J20 supposedly that the forest service had custom ordered for the PNW somewhere. Let me see if I can dig that up
  10. Aside from installing a radio renewed by @Minuit (I really need to write you a review man cause I love the radio now), and reassembling my dash there's nothing new to report on as far as Squirrelly Dan goes parts wise. However I finally got to use it for its intended purpose: camping. Took a road trip from NC, to CO and camped in IL and KS along the way. Aside from the 2.8 being its usually anemic self the only real issue I had was the clutch master started leaking in CO, but for some reason stopped after getting back into lower elevations. The trip fully cemented to things I want: A TDI swap and to paint it the National Forest Service green color. I saw over a dozen trucks out west that were that color. I had been considering it for this truck and seeing in person so much really just convinced me that's the color I want. As far as the TDI swap goes it's self explanatory. I want more power and diesel whistling noises. Also replacing my old daily with a MK6 Golf TDI and it being so fun kinda weighs the scale toward TDI over MB OM617. Anyway onto pics:
  11. Here's a different kind of earning its keep. It acted as my bed, kitchen, and shower for over 3200 miles on a camping trip from NC to CO and back. Aside from the 2.8 being abysmal on any kind of incline and above 6000' elevation, Squirrelly Dan carried me faithfully almost across the US and back with no complaints.
  12. I feel like it'll appreciate value better in the long run as is. I'm just down the road from you and what I've seen, a build like you're talking about is in the $8k range if the drivetrain has no issues, and the body is rust free. That's also what you could probably get for the exact same truck unmodified, IF it is truly pristine.
  13. Everyone made it out unscathed. The guy who hit me his girl was 9 months pregnant in the passenger seat and even she was only a little bruised up. The cars took the brunt of it.
  14. On this subject my daily got hit on Friday. I was doing 10-15 and the guy who hit me was doing 50-55. If I didn't have headrests specifically designed to reduce head injuries in this kind of crash I would at the very least have the worst whiplash. Headrests are very necessary for your safety.
  15. It has a CR Laurence sticker in the bottom left corner. Didn't think they made a 3 pane..
  16. My Comanche with a TDI swap, 3" lift, 31's, built as a camper-mobile 68 Beetle in VW blue with a fuel injected 1800 for daily Forest Service crew cab J20 with a 401 for heavy duty stuff Mongoose Grandsport for go fast things R31 Skyline GTS for Initial D things Suzuki Jimny/Samurai with Toyota axles for wheelin An all stock 74 Celica GT A revolving door of some sort of motorcycle
  17. I'm jealous of your seats. I have the same in much worse condition. I love the 86 only honey interior bits. Excited to see this truck. It'll be a good one.
  18. I just meant my camper top, unsure on the brand but it has the same seal for the rear door. Specifically the seal that goes in the frame attached to the shell the door closes in. I suppose I'll have to do what you did and dig it out forcefully. The stuff I bought to replace mine is fairly pliable, don't see having an issue getting it in the track. I bought is from this seller on eBay for less than $10.
  19. Interested in how replacing the weather stripping for the door goes for you. I bought replacement for mine but the original is so age hardened I can't get it to even move in the track. Not sure what course of action I'm going to try to remove the old stuff.
  20. Right under 800# of scrap. The sag in the rear really shows how worn out the leafs are.
  21. Hope you're joking. Max that is actually worth here is 1500, maybe 2500 if it has NO rust.
  22. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/403903661042065/ Obvious rattle can paint job, no flares, Mexi-flush wheels and LEDs abound. Don't know what he's smoking thinking this is worth $7000..... Looking at older photos seems it was a Pioneer.
  23. I second Core4x4. Got a set of their Tier ones. The welds and powder coat of both of good quality for the price,
  24. Easy way to see if it's sagged is measure it. How to measure ride hight - MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs - Comanche Club Forums Then go from there.
