Saw a new one today. Black SWB, chrome bumpers, and what looked like OE chrome bed rails.
-
I assumed it was somebody going, "Rare truck, everything for it must be plated in unobtainium so I can charge whatever I want for it." Odd I didn't see the reprint. Maybe I filtered just used ones.

I was thinking of grabbing an owners manual and decided to look on eBay. This guy has an 86 4x4 manual originally listed at $300.... With only one picture of the front cover. It has marked down to $119 as of today. Are owners manuals really selling for that high? https://www.ebay.com/itm/1986-Jeep-Comanche-Owner-Operator-Manual-X-XLS-STD-Diesel-2-1L-2-5L-2-8L-V6/372206346787?hash=item56a93a2223:g:zOgAAOSw3xJXn2PF

Don't think the tie down bolt needs sealed. I recently messed with the one in my 2.8 and didn't have any leaks. It's probably coming from around the shaft of the distributor.
-
You just swapped the distributor right? Was the o-ring on the new one in good condition? Was it a good interference fit when you installed it? If the o-ring got torn, or just isn't the right size for the hole you'll get an oil leak like that.

Bumperettes? Not sure what you mean by that. Regardless the bottom tab on the OE Mopar brush guards I have had mounts to the spot on the bumper brackets I circled in the picture. Not sure where you'd bolt the bottom mount to without a bracket with that extension.
-
No it will not mount with out tow hook brackets. I can assure you that the brackets are much easier to find than the brush guards though.
-
These brush guards mount with the hidden winch/tow hook brackets. Mine is mounted on the hidden winch style ones like this.

Keep your peepers peeled. I ended up driving 3 hours to grab mine off a dude on Facebook. Totally worth it though.

So according to this the new springs you got were a half inch lower than stock 4WD leafs. Like I said I'm on sagged out OEM 4WD leafs with shackles and I'm at the same ride height. This seems contrary to the reports that the GS MT springs lift the vehicle.
-
Interesting. Which shackles did you use? I'm on stock leafs (non-MT) and Belltech shackles and mine is 10.5 from top of axle to frame.

Leaf spring and shackle, how much space?

I should say I reused the stock hardware. Looks like you have new and it might not have enough threading to bring it in all the way. -
I think I'd third a Leatherman. Mine has come in handy way more times than I thought it would.

I'll bite. When I installed my Belltech shackles (for a Chevy 1500) they had that much gap. I just torqued to spec, have yet to see any warpage in the metal. -

Command-Trac and Selec-Trac emblems, but neither had locating pins. -
Exhaust "Y" Pipe Ideas for 2020.... Help!
coheed replied to prcov's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have heard the S10 2.8 Y pipe works, not sure you can get those new either. Probably your best bet for new is a local exhaust shop, or grab one off a S10 at a junkyard for something used. -
From reading about the NP228/229, Jeeps reasoning was the selec-trac transfer cases had more slack in them. Some people speculated that the less consistent load of a manual and the higher shock load of a clutch could cause an issue with that slack. Though as you've said people have put both the 242, and the 228/229, behind manuals.

Learn something everyday. Thanks for sharing. I was just under the impression they were only behind the 2.8's wasn't thinking about other Jeep models. -
Mines a '10 Honda Fit. Though since the middle of March I've only driven it 4 times

A 4.0 with an A904? How's that work? -
Any turbo style muffler is decent. Thrush is easily found at parts stores and priced decent. I have a Cherry Bomb turbo on my 2.8 and it's pretty mellow and not tinny.
