  1. Yes, it is the exact bike in question. The fact it has hydraulic brakes makes it more advanced than my last motorcycle haha. I think my best bet at this point is call em and see if they'll let me test ride and go by feel.

  3. Looking for advice about a bike. Looking to get a bike as I need to get in better shape. I love hiking and exploring so a MTB seems the logical next step. Info about me I'm 6' 265# 31" inseam. Haven't owned a bike since I got my first car 15 years ago. The bike in question is a Felt Dispatch 7/70 on the local craigslist. 18" seemingly stock. $425. It seems like the 18" might be a bit small? Or could I get away with it? Would this bike be able to grow with me as I get in better shape? I can handle doing repairs and upgrades myself if that makes a huge difference. Picture of the bike for reference.
  4. I was looking at those yesterday. How much did you have to hack up the cab for it? Have any pictures of the install and finished product?
  5. Saw two more last Sat driving to go look at a camper top.
  6. I know this is a Jeep forum, but I'll throw the Tundra at you if you want a truck. My fiance bought a 2010 Double Cab, 4wd, auto, 4.6 V8, with the tow package for $10,500 (she bought it in TN fyi). Had like 180,000ish miles, but those engines have been known to go well past 500k in Land Cruisers. Came from Ohio, but the only rust we could find was the battery tie-down. Huge interior. Towing capacity with the tow package for the 4.6 is 7,800#, 10,200# with the 5.7. With the 4.6 it averages 20mpg. Idk if you're wanting to stick to the big three but if made in America is important the Tundra around that time had the second most Made in USA parts behind the F150 and the Ridgeline oddly enough.
  7. https://offerup.com/item/detail/910232196/ Went and looked at this earlier. Measures 60x90 and the height of the front was just about right with the cab. Unfortunately it was in a little worse shape than I wanted to deal with. Weather seals were gone, 2 of the tiny windows were cracked and broken. The roof was warped, presumably from lying upside down at some point. A few cracks around the back door in the fiberglass. It is quite cheap though, so maybe someone that wants a LWB cap could take the time and fix it up.
  8. Odd looking sprint car.
  9. Yeah, decent welder could put on a better roof. But a badly warped frame, bad floors, a blown 2.8, a non original bed, and the rigamarole I'd have to go through to get a title since it got held up in the estate settlement 15 years ago makes the proposition not really appealing. Honestly it'll mean just as much when I turn it into a camper trailer cause that's what he and I used the truck for when I was a kid.
  10. This reminds me of an old work story. Years ago I was 2nd shift lead/road tech for a contract maintenance shop for a trucking company. One day we get a call a trailer had some blow-outs, fairly par for the course. I loaded 2 trailer tires into the back of our crap 96 F150 and hauled well over an hour from the shop, swapped the tires, and started heading back to the shop. I got roughly a mile and a half away from the shop on I-77 and hear an awful whining noise start. It got so loud so quickly I pulled to the emergency lane within 30 seconds of it starting. Good thing I pulled over too. As soon as all my tires crossed over the emergency lane line the rear end locks up. Luckily I was only going 30ish and there was a good amount of weight over the rear tires. I get out and examine the damage and the rear axle is smoking like Snoop on a Saturday night. So I call my boss and tell him what's up. He responds with: "Let it cool off and see if it'll drive" "Woody, there's no way I'm driving this thing back to the shop." "Well let it cool off and if it doesn't move after 30 mins call me back." So since I was being paid by the hour at that moment, we were typically bill rate except for road work, I waited the 30 minutes. No go. Call him back and he says wait it out some more. Mind you I had already spent about four hours on the road call before the rear end locked up. I waited another hours and sure enough, it didn't move. He finally relents and says he'll call a wrecker. Get a call from the wrecker guy a little later and he says he's gonna be at least two hours cause he's in a different state. I ended up waiting on the side of the road longer than actually doing the road call. Took the wrecker all of 5 minutes to get me back to the shop lol.
  11. Nice to see not everyone with a Comanche thinks it's made out of gold. There was a guy local to me trying to sell a 2wd 87 that didn't run with rusted out rockers for $4700 not too long ago haha
  12. Even though I know I'm too big I've always loved the Suzuki Mighty boy as well.
  13. \ First car was a 73 Super Beetle with a 1600 and a horrible auto-stick trans. Mine was much much uglier than this, but was the same color. I'd love to have another one, even if the Super is the redheaded step-child of the aircooled world.
  14. Are jacked up welds still allowed? Here's pictures of the roof replacement on my grandfather's Comanche, one of the big reasons I ended up deciding it was more trouble than it was worth to fix it. It seems the truck got rolled or a tree fell on it at some point. The bed is not the original and this is the cobbled roof replacement. There's also about 3/8 if an inch of Bondo on the entire passenger b-pillar.
  15. Back before it extended into North Carolina or LA a couple did it in a 96 XJ: https://expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/trans-america-trail-a-months-journey-in-a-96-jeep-xj.115767/ Always thought it'd be cool to do in a truck, but since it's mainly for motorcycles a LWB would probably be a no go on the tight trails.

I know there were 4-5 Cherokees, both body styles. At least 2 were 4wd, not sure on axles shafts. They had 4-5 ZJ's as well.

It was fairly straight aside from the bottom back corners. Don't recall a whole lot of rust, but it was filled to the brim with crap so I couldn't see the floor of it.

2.8/ Column shift A904/ didn't check/ D30/ D35/ LWB Build date: N/A Current Location: Rusty's pic-a-part in Marion, NC Status: Junkyard Notes: Nothing special of note. Current owner: Rusty's pic-a-part Most everything MJ specific is gone. I nabbed the window trim and the fuel door off it today. It does have a decent condition factory slider window, but I didn't have my glass tool in my toolbox . @Blaine.D this one is not too far from you if you want a factory slider, or maybe someone can pay you to get it.
  19. I'll second Pete and hope it's a hidden winch.
  20. Saw a new one today. Black SWB, chrome bumpers, and what looked like OE chrome bed rails.
  21. I assumed it was somebody going, "Rare truck, everything for it must be plated in unobtainium so I can charge whatever I want for it." Odd I didn't see the reprint. Maybe I filtered just used ones.
  22. I was thinking of grabbing an owners manual and decided to look on eBay. This guy has an 86 4x4 manual originally listed at $300.... With only one picture of the front cover. It has marked down to $119 as of today. Are owners manuals really selling for that high? https://www.ebay.com/itm/1986-Jeep-Comanche-Owner-Operator-Manual-X-XLS-STD-Diesel-2-1L-2-5L-2-8L-V6/372206346787?hash=item56a93a2223:g:zOgAAOSw3xJXn2PF
  23. Don't think the tie down bolt needs sealed. I recently messed with the one in my 2.8 and didn't have any leaks. It's probably coming from around the shaft of the distributor.
  24. You just swapped the distributor right? Was the o-ring on the new one in good condition? Was it a good interference fit when you installed it? If the o-ring got torn, or just isn't the right size for the hole you'll get an oil leak like that.
  25. Bumperettes? Not sure what you mean by that. Regardless the bottom tab on the OE Mopar brush guards I have had mounts to the spot on the bumper brackets I circled in the picture. Not sure where you'd bolt the bottom mount to without a bracket with that extension.
