    What books to read

I enjoyed it. I'm not an avid reader, but it's one of the 50 or so books that i choose to own.

    What books to read

Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance. Any Douglas Adams book if you like SciFi comedy.
  3. I'd be super interested in one. I'm planning on swapping to an auto with a column shifter at some point and would like a cup holder.
  4. No clearance issues with the 2.8 either, for anyone wondering. I have a set of the brackets installed and both sides have the same nut and bolt.
  5. Are you saying Hell Creek isn't the same quality as General? I'm asking because I only want a max of two inches over stock of lift and it seems that the Generals give a consistent three inches. Reports on the Hell Creek springs say they are roughly OEM ride height for a 4WD.
  6. Not trying to derail the thread. Does anyone have experience with the Hell Creek metric ton springs vs the General metric tons?
  7. I love seeing old trucks with old camping setups. Really displays how we over complicate stuff these days.
  8. Have anymore pictures of what looks to be a carpeted bed area? Is the camper top actually set up to camp in?
  9. GM four note horn. They are loud enough that people jump when I have to honk at them. I put one on most every vehicle I own. Have to add an extra relay for two of the horns, but that's fairly simple. Go to the junkyard and find yourself a Buck, Cadillac, or Oldmobile from the late 70's to the early 90's with high trim packages and look for one with four different horns. Typically on Buicks and Cadillacs they are mounted in the engine bay in the front corners. The ones I have on my Comanche came from a Buick Reatta.
  10. Here is a Brahma that I picked up yesterday. I think it's a Comanche specific one but unsure. The roof height and cab angle lines up fantastically, but it could stand to be 35-50mm wider. It does have a 65mm wide "shelf" were it meets the bed which could be handy. And here is the unknown brand camper I got from Blaine.D.
  11. Guy is selling a camper top that fits a long bed. Said his granddad had it on a Comanche and he used it on an S10. The rear latch is broken, but he only wants $75 for it. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/2458251894414091
  12. I assumed it would be something like this. I'm comfortable doing wiring repair and the like, I don't feel like I have enough experience with more delicate stuff to risk messing up a rare radio. Whenever you start taking orders again I'd love for you to give this the work it deserves.
  13. Hey @Minuit, I have a RX-135 that I'm having some issues with. It only powers on occasionally, and when it does it hunts for a station on seek but I can't tune it with the knob. The tape portion seems to work well. All functions of the tape player work, except it only produces a faint hissing. I can barely hear the music playing if I get really close to the speaker and the volume is all the way up. Any advice on what I could do to alleviate those issues?
  14. Ripped out the broken vacuum heater control valve and got my heat working. Also hooked up the four note GM horns I grabbed at a junk yard the other week.
  15. So they are not a matched pair? The balancing is not matched to the crank?
  16. So I've recently acquired another 86 with the 2.8 in it. This one however, has an AX5 that I believe to be the source of the horrible growling noise when driving down the road. I have a presumably good 904 trans in my old truck that I'm thinking of swapping in. My question is, is the flywheel/flex plate balanced to a matched crankshaft, or can I swap the flex plate over and not have any vibration issues on the other motor?
  17. Found one guys, thanks for looking out.

It's AB paint code, so it may be the original paint, not sure. There's a build sheet under the seat but I was afraid to try and get at it because it looked so torn up already.

1986, Comanche Custom. 2.8 / AX5 / NP207 / D30 / D35 / LWB Build date: Unsure, sticker is illegible Location: Maiden, NC Status: Going to be a project truck/ weekend thrasher. Needs floors and some electrical work. Plan to swap to auto, swap axles for the non-cad D30 and D35 with 4.10's I have, 2-3" lift with metric ton springs, probably swap in a 3.4 with a Weber car or Edelbrock at some point. Notes: Beige paint, bench with mini console, tan? interior, towing mirrors.
  21. Bike got sold so I've got a larger budget. That one in Baltimore is a good price, but I'm wanting as close to stock as I can get. I've talked to a few guys, the one with the hidden winch bumper seems reluctant to send interior or engine bay pictures which is odd. I'm not really wanting to do a 12 hour road trip if I came at least get a shot of the interior and engine. Most other guys have just ignored my messages, so I guess they sold their trucks or don't want to sell em.
  22. Beautiful country. Hope to get up that way one of these days.
  23. There's one a few hours away that I've had my eye on. 86 4x4 2.5, and it has a hidden winch bumper on it, no clue if the winch is present. I have a guy supposedly coming to look at the bike Saturday, so here's hoping.
  24. For anyone who uses old threads or old forums I highly recommend downloading an extension called "photobucket embed fix". It makes it so any photo still hosted on their site actually shows up on forums or where ever. It's saved me a couple times. But also, if anyone is still using them they're insane. I jumped ship when they first started this. $500 a year so my pictures can show up on other sites? No thanks.
