Got a reply to a comment I left on a Key Parts post weeks ago. They say the manufacturer is packing them up. Only time will tell.

Squirrelly Dan: Coheed's 86 Custom
coheed replied to coheed's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Small update. Starting the axle swap/new lift. Swapping from 3.55s to 4.10s. The axle set is out of my grandfather's Comanche, so it'll be a straight swap. The Dana 30 will get new oem seals and ball joints, control arm bushings, and ZJ cv axles. Both axles will get new brakes. Lift will consist of the following: Zone off-road AAL Zone off-road shackles Rubicon express 3.5" fronts JKS quick disconnects Rock krawler track bar with a stienjager poly end Stinkyfab racing track bar mount Bilstein's front and rear, but can't remember p/n's right now My rear springs are super sagged. Like they sit at factory height with Chevy drop shackles with 350#'s in the bed. Hoping the full length AAL will help and the 3.5" fronts won't be too tall. If they are I'll deal with that -
I would definitely keep it. The long bed toppers are getting harder and harder to find, and I see way less high rise ones then the even with the cab ones. And I'm biased, but think a lifted lwb with a topper is the best look for an MJ.

As far as I've heard the NP228 only came behind the autos no? I can say my AX5 has a NP207 behind it.

I've seen a few people on here asking about discount codes. I recently went looking here and all the typical discount code sites and all I got was dead codes. Ratsun has a constantly updated thread where they can put up codes. I figured why not try and start one here. 226810508203928452 valid thru April 14th

I wonder how good the fit on the bucket seats is? They have a model that fits early XJs, and the only difference I know of is the tilt forward lever. Looks good and the cordura should resist water and staining

As others have said, back off and think about how future you would feel about letting the truck go. There were many times I thought about selling my grandad's MJ, what with frame warping, title issues, and rust. Eventually I turned into a trailer, and now I still have a cool thing that has sentimental value. I'm also very glad I didn't sell it. My current truck has just been sitting for a while and only going to the dump on occasion. The front axle u joints are bad. Like missing all the needle bearings bad. But I don't wanna spend the money on swapping them because I plan to throw in the 4.10 axles from my old truck. But I don't want to do that unless I have all the parts to do the larger lift. Measuring my ride height the other day it's sitting at factory height with a Chevy drop shackle, so I don't think it'd be worth it to try the AAL I've got. So I need money for new springs. Stuff on project vehicles adds up really fast and can get overwhelming. But making decisions in the moment that future you would be disappointed by sucks way worse.

I guess it's good you're not trying to steal my truck then . I never said it was fool proof. I was just offering the small thing I did to my truck. A few years back I saw an interview with a professional motorcycle thief and the gist of the advice he had to give was make your stuff less convenient than your neighbors. The quote that stuck out was "I'd steal the sportster on the street before the Ducati in the garage." My 37 year old truck that's 6 different colors, in front of a camera, that doesn't start first try is much less desirable that my neighbors unsecured, unsurveilled stuff.

My "kill switch" isn't really a kill switch. I cut into the signal wire for the starter relay and put an on/off switch on it. So if it's not on the starter won't turn over. Quick nondescript anti-theft measure, and no electric fuel pump for me so that wasn't an option. Also a very obvious lighted security cam pointed at the driveway is a deterrent.

A904 Transmission Problems
coheed replied to Peanut_butter_mj's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Also, the 904s have belts that need periodic adjustment. Could just be it hasn't been adjusted in a while. They're still popular with vintage Dodge racing guys, so parts aren't super hard to get for the age. Later versions were called the 30RH, though I don't know how many parts cross over. -

I like the green man. What's the code if you don't mind me asking? Curious cause it looks real close to USFS green and I'm planning on doing that for my 86.

Ammoseek is legit and the reviews they get for the sites seem to be spot on. Other than that I think only option is getting friendly with local shop and finding out when they get shipments in so you can be there when they unload the truck.

Looking forward to seeing this. I love the "street" treatment a lot of the MJ/XJs are getting these days.

One of the weirder ones I've seen. Ford Fusion? front end, diesel VW Bug chassis, rear tube trike frame. But the pièce de résistance is the bone steering wheel and shifter. All for the low low price of $12500

Please do. I've been struggling with the blower in my 86 for a while now and this thread made me realize I'm not the only one struggling trying to find these parts.

Nice looking short bed trailer on FB listed in Hickory NC. Has a nice cap and tool box as well a a pintle hitch. Seems like a decent price. https://www.facebook.com/commerce/listing/483438340202184 "I've come to the conclusion my overlanding, is not gonna be in a trailer unless it has AC and shower. So, here is a great start to your offroad/ overlanding trailer project. Has pintle hitch. Inside bed is Raptor lined. Comes with 3 Mastercraft Courser 33" MT's, toolbox and camper top. All for the steal of a deal $1650."

I'm also interested in what people's opinions on this are. Both ends on my truck are fairly dented and slightly rusted and I'm creeping closer to doing the body work on my truck.

1996 Toyota Estima Lucida (JDM narrow body Previa)
coheed replied to AMCJeepMJ's topic in Member Projects: Other Cool Stuff
Huge fan of these Japanese beans. There's an old hispanic dude near my work that has a supercharged awd Previa and I've thought a few times about trying to flag him down and ask what he'd take for it lol. This one looks to be an amazing example. Congrats on the purchase!! -
Squirrelly Dan: Coheed's 86 Custom
coheed replied to coheed's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Not a whole lot to add but going to try to keep more stuff here. Collecting parts for a 3" lift used from people here and there. Replaced the brakes lines with YJ ones in the front and a Dakota one in the rear, and swapped in a 23 gallon tank. Bought a chopper, but planning on selling it to get a 3.4 donor vehicle. Still thinking I want to do a TDI swap at some point, but the 2.8 is to the point it's getting a little too long in the tooth to pull me up the mountains. Also thinking of trying to get one with a 700R4 and swap to an auto with a Novak t-case adapter to get rid of the AX5. No problems yet, but it's steadily making more and more noise. Other than that, just a great truck being a great truck. -
My favorite interior of all the Comanches by far. Fantastic score My truck's also a 2.8 3.55 combo and it's just a dog. It's even worse when you size up on tires. Honestly the 2.8 should've just come with 4.10s across the board. If it does have a D44 it was swapped in, the 86s only got the AMC20 axle for the upgraded ones. If you're near scguy you're not that far from me either. We really need to do a southeast meet up at some point.
