  1. A little faster would be nice. Sometimes the speed is okay, but at certain times I have to just give up and come back later. Better search I find the edit window very frustrating. It works okay to create a new, blank post but, when quoting someone else's post, it's very difficult to delete PART of the quoted post without either losing it all, or getting shut out of the area to insert my own new post. Maybe a couple of optional "skins"? Web sites and forums these days all seem to default to a pale, pastel colour scheme, which for those of us with aging eyes (combined -- in my case -- with red-green colour blindness) is often very difficult to read.
  2. Keep in mind that the larger air hose to the valve cover (the one in the front) is an intake hose. For the CCV system to function as designed, the skinny little line toward the rear of the valve cover also has to be open, because that's the one that uses engine vacuum to create a negative pressure in the crankcase to suck out fumes. It's not a great design, because hot, oily fumes tend to clog up the little line. Once that happens, you no longer have a crankcase "ventilation system" -- you now have a crankcase that gets pressurized by piston blowby, and the pressure goes out anywhere it can. If the front intake tube is also clogged, it'll force the fumes (and oil) out the rear main seal. I once had one blow the oil fill cap right off on the highway.
  3. Make your own. Somewhere on this site, someone has posted dimensional drawings of both the LWB and SWB chassis. With the dimensions, it shouldn't be difficult to fabricate and locate replacement brackets. I'm sure members here will be happy to provide close-up photos of what the brackets look like on the truck.
  4. Was the ignition turned on and the fan switch set to the "Hi" position? If so, then you're not getting power to the fan. So the next step is to unplug the connector at the resistor pack and see if you're getting power to the input side of the resistors.
  5. Unplug the fan connector under the hood and check for power at the connector. If you have power, the problem may be the ground. Remember that fan speed is controlled by a resistor pack, so you won't see 12 volts except with the control on the high speed setting.
  6. The problem isn't the fuel pump, it's the sender and the gauge. The polarity of the gauge is different on the newer vehicle. Are you swappiing in the '96 dashboard and gauge cluster?

  11. No, they had a HUGE problem in the rust belt with the two-piece rotors self-destructing. They finally went back to a one-pieve design, and I believe the change was made in mid-year of the 1999 model run. That would explain why there are two part numbers.
  12. Tech is changing at neck breaking speed, if not the tech, the way tech is being used. My brother is a corporate snob who deals a lot with millennials, he tells me that that many are using the 'personal cloud' as a means to work around everyone else' 'terms of service'. I have two millennial daughters myself. They way we do things is not the way they do things. They will dictate the way things are done, they already are. Cable TV, for example, will, has, will go, the way of the floppy disc, betamax, VHS, CDs, DVDs, etc..... you just haven't caught on yet. :P I know, I'm a Luddite. Can't help it, it's just the way my brain is wired. I've never been at the bleeding edge of any technological advances -- I'm always trailing at the end of the pack, dragged kicking and screaming into last year's (or the year before that) technology. I still don't trust the cloud, and I prefer to own the license to my software, not rent it. I bought a license for Microsoft Office 2016, rather than paying every month to "rent" Office 365.
  13. Anything you put on "the cloud" is ultimately at the mercy of whoever owns the cloud server(s). Photobucket is "the cloud." Dropbox is "the cloud." Google Docs is "the cloud." They can change their price structure and/or terms of service tomorrow. The very best control, which most of us can't afford and probably don't have the technical resources to do anyway, is to have your own server hosting your own domain. I know one guy in town who does that -- but he's an IT professional for a large hospital, and he has a bank of servers in a rack in his basement. Aside from the servers, the big roadblock to hosting your own site is that you need a fast connection. I have the fastest DSL connection available in my corner of the universe, and it's nowhere near fast enough to handle having my own server connected to the Internet. Next best is to register your own domain name and rent hosting from a company that's in the business of hosting. Their prices may increase a bit with each renewal, but probably never on the order of magnitude of what Photobucket did. (Going from zero to $399 is, mathematically, an infinite increase. Not 10%, not 100%, not even 400% -- it's "infinite.") They have their business plan figured out so their fees cover their costs plus profit. Photobucket was trying to make their income with ads, but they got greedy to the point that users were almost forced to run ad blockers, which obviously reduced the effectiveness of the ads. A friend pointed out that with a hundred million users, most of them subscribed to the free service, if Photobucket had decided to charge just $10 a year their income would increased by about $1 BILLION dollars a year. Most of us would have paid $10/year. $400/year -- not a chance.
  14. Getting voltage on the hot side tells you nothing about the ground.
  15. Are you saying your header wasn't connected to the engine, or to the muffler? Did you and Noriyori read the original post? His exhaust pipe is disconnected from the manifold. He should NOT drive it that way.

The download file sizes are different though...... They are different documents. Alexia's link is for the electronic version of the FSM. The other link looks to be a high quality scan of the printed version. Just to be safe, I downloaded both.

  18. Is there a source anywhere to download a copy of the factory service manual for the 2000 XJ? (Or 1999 or 2001 would be about as good -- I doubt they changed much in those years.)

    apparently (from what I've been told) some later years could have been had with the 44 under a short bed (some sort of offroad package?). but only long beds had the metric ton package. My '87 Pioneer is a shortbed with a Dana 44. I bought it from the daughter of the original owner, so I'm 99.937% certain it's the factory axle.

  24. Yes, that is correct. One site often suggested as a replacement is imgur.com. Just found this on another forum: So, imgur.com isn't an option, and Amazon Prime isn't an option. I'm still looking.
  25. I don't know what you guys are using as your browser. I use Firefox. When I right click one of those blocked images, it just opens the same image in another page of the same tab. I am not offered any option to open in a new tab.
