  1. I have a set of clutchpacks for a D35 Trac-lok, practically brand new. I know I'd need the carrier and spiders for a C-clip trak-lok. What I'm wondering, though, is if I get ahold of the carrier to swap in there, would a whole new gear setup have to be done, or are the carriers machined well enough for me to simply swap the ring and its shims over? If a setup is needed I won't bother, but it'd be a nice addition to my 4wd until I get around to the 4.10 8.25 swap.
  2. Reminds me of when my Brother's 92 XJ got hit by the high schoolers in an Eclipse. Still drove that truck for 3 weeks before he found his 98. Glad to hear you're ok though. I know it's possible to straighten frames. Not sure what the cost would be, or if they can do it on one that's half unibody, but it doesn't hurt to ask.
  3. I commonly use TB for Throttle Body instead of Track Bar
  4. Might be something bumping around that you didn't notice before because the suspension wasn't as stiff. Just to be sure as well, I'd go over the bushing bolts and U-bolts just to make sure everything's been tightened down. If you haven't already, that is.
  5. :agree: I'd bet your thermostat is stuck open.
  6. Check your fluid level. Mine was getting low on fluid and was having trouble getting out of 4wd. Generally its not a good idea to run at 70 in 4wd unless you have a Full Time case. At those speeds, the minute difference in ratio and tire size would be enough to grenade something if all 4 tires hit dry pavement at the same time. Oh, I would also check the vac lines to the CAD. Or just lock it over so its always engaged, at least for diagnostic purposes.

    Aw, too bad:

Split rear window might be worth grabbing. That's too bad, it'd be a nice restore project.
  8. From what I've seen, with the crank at #1 TDC, the two dots on the sprockets should be pointing straight at each other.
  9. The cam sprocket can be 180 degrees off. It's supposed to. The crankshaft spins exactly twice as fast as the cam, so every time the crank got to TDC, the cam would turn halfway, 180 degrees.
  10.
  11. Shouldn't this all just fall back on the "Nothing about Jeep is for sure, because they did whatever the hell they wanted in the factory" rule?
  12. Just wanna add to that, that you cannot simply swap the rear case to make the 2wd one a 4wd, the output shaft is different.
  13. I would do a little looking... if you can find the parts for a decent price, I would try to convert it to an external slave. My 2.5 is a 91, came with an internal, has a 93 XJ trans in it, with an 86 Bellhousing and external setup.
  14. I would turn the motor by hand with a ratchet to see if you can hear and clinking inside. That might tell you if something's loose inside. Wouldn't hurt to pop the valve cover off when you turn it to see if any of the valves are sticking.
  15. If you think it may be the harddrive, they do make fans that you can click onto the harddrive itself. I'm willing to bet the culprit is the thermal paste... Putting the di electric grease on it may have actually made it worse.
  16. Di electric grease is for helping in electrical connections. You need a thermal paste, which will help transfer the heat from processor to the heat sink. Another possibility is the heat sink is shot. Just like a radiator, they can eventually go bad and stop working as well as they should.
  17. Rip it apart, dust and crap likes to jam up the airways for the fan. You may also want to replace the thermal paste between the processor and heatsink.
  18. Wouldn't a bad slave make it so the clutch didn't disengage that well? If it's having trouble staying engaged, I'd look at a worn clutch disk, tired PP or even a sticking master cylinder.
  19. Never hurts to change the fuel filter. About 8 bucks and 10 minutes of your time.
  20. I paid $200 for a YJ AX-15 and an NP231.
  21. Total trip is 9 hours with a stop for lunch, actually keep going a little past Osage Beach to Camdenton. I wouldn't know about shooters, I'm not from the area. Haven't really spent any time in Osage Beach, save a trip to Wal Mart because I wore pants for the trip and it ended up being like 50 degrees warmer there than in WI. I'll definitly drop a card if I see it parked again.
  22. Wasn't the 904 used behind the 2.8 and early 2.5? Beside it not bolting up, I'd think a 4.0 would grenade it, even if you got it in there. The AW4 is a much stronger tranny.
  23. I've been somewhat frequently going down to MO because my girlfriend is from there, and twice now in Osage beach I've seen (once parked, once going the other way) a grey Pioneer with red stripes. I'll try to grab a picture if I see it again next trip.
  24. I saw a firetruck pulled over on the side of the interstate last weekend that was completely covered in Christmas lights. They had pulled over because some of the icicles on the ladder had come loose and were dangling. I wish I'd stopped to take a picture, but it was somewhere between Marion, IA and Madison, WI on 151 in case any of you'd seen it.
  25. Really? Where? :hmm:
