Sure did. Got everything sitting in the bed, all the front clip stuff, and pretty much everything that was taken out of the engine bay when the motor was pulled. I think the only things I didn't get were the motor itself, tranny, and radiator.

Hey... it was after midnight, and my shed is so cluttered I would have had to climb over my toolbox, a flywheel sitting on top a crank that's bolted to and using as a base another flywheel, a fender, bumper, push bar, various boxes and a bench seat to get at my tape measure, which is in the other tool box. See why I need a storage unit? Plus I'm lazy. Awesome, thanks.

I have some airhorns off a semi that would go great with those. :brows:

Wikipedia says the Comanche's length is 194 inches... That seems a bit long, must be for the longbed? Anyone know offhand the bumper-bumper length of a stock shortbed? Need to store the new one in a storage locker and need to verify it'll fit.

No comanche will have front drums unless it's been swapped on. I'd bet, if the sound is coming from the front, that you're grinding the pad rivets into the discs. Luckily the discs are dirt cheap, as well as the pads.

My 2.5 idles around 1100, 4.0 at 600ish. Both my Renix 4.0 XJs idled at 6-700.

I had never lost a lug nut before this, on either or my XJs or my 2.5 MJ. The only difference really on that truck is I have Ford rims on it. I can't imagine not having the friction of the center hole making that much of a difference on it. The only other possibility is someone is sabotaging them, and if I find out who it is and I can prove it, I'm sure I can get them in quite a bit of trouble for endangering my life. (and my Dad's for that matter, he was in the passenger seat.) I should be moving the new MJ from my Dad's garage to a storage shed on saturday, I'll grab some better pics then. The ones I posted earlier are from the ad.

my comanches acting up help help help
Geonovast replied to jeepalex's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
All alt gotta have some sort of voltage reg.. MJ's are internal. I think.. yeah pretty sure.. Yeah that's what I was getting at lol. Can't replace the regulator without replacing the alternator. -

That or a bad alternator. I don't think any MJs came with a voltage regulator? -
Shouldn't be too hard to find a new box, I have two of them sitting around. 88 4.0 XJ and 93 2.5 XJ, I'm pretty sure they're the same.

Works the same way. Drop into neutral, pull lever back and to the right. Make sure you're not moving too.
-
It may be an 87 with a production date in 86. Remember, the year on the title is model year, not necessarily production year. Both my 91s were made in 91, but my 88 XJ was made in 87.

Ignore the Price, Just Observe and Enjoy........Wow!

Every option available, but has idiot lights? That guy's  If you hover your mouse over a link it should tell you on the bottom of your browser where it goes. -
That may be true, but I believe there's no bend to them, which will limit your downtravel.

Auto and Manual columns should be indentical unless it's old enough to have a column shifter... those ones might be different.

Key cannot be in the locked position. Since you're going so far, I'd disconnect the battery so you don't drain it with the truck on. I just towed an MJ about 40 miles, and the only problem I had was with the tow vehicle. (Also an MJ. And U-Haul said it wasn't heavy enough. pfft.)

Just happened to skim CL before going to work and noticed this. 1989 jeep pickup (Evansville WI) need parts...... call for info xxx-xxx-xxxx 89 swb 4.0 2wd 5 speed. No motor or trans, he had pulled it from an MJ to put in an XJ. $300 The front is a little bashed up from when he was moving it around. It had a bumper on it from something else, they had drilled their own holes for it, and it was a decent hackjob of the control system when the motor was pulled. Very little rust despite the factory stepsides, and the bed is practically perfect. Tons of scratched on the inside and a dent in the front left bottom, but I didn't find any rust. Then, almost all the way home towing it, my front left wheel fell off. Apparently all my lugnuts jumped ship. Amazingly, the tire stayed in the wheel well and kept the truck off the ground. It happened right after a turn and I wasn't doing more than 10 when it happened. Lifted it up with a jack, stole one lug nut off each wheel on the towed truck, and drove home.

Uh... mine are BAD Real name: Cum Stain Screen name: The Wanker -
I could see the broken trackbar causing that... My TB TRE popped out of the bracket once at about 70 MPH and cause the worst deathwobble I've ever experienced. I'm surprised I didn't bend any control arms. And I was at stock height... I could see it being much worse with a good lift.

The big white thing in the back is going to be used to cover up the tank.
-
Yup, after I took that pic I got the XJ tank setup in the bed now too. Hopefully I can grab something from work tomorrow to make a good cover for it. It lives again!

Rattle noise....or loose transmission????
Geonovast replied to 90eliminator's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Not always, those bolts and studs under there love to snap off, and there's always the possibilty that the PO decided that welding it back on would be easier than pulling the broken bolts off like on my 4.0... If you do take the crossmember off, soak the bolts with PB good a few times before you try to take them off. -
Toggle switch.

Yeah that's what I meant :rotf:
