    No Title?

Anyone have any insight as to acquiring a donor vehicle for parts that does not have a title? I know state laws differ (I'm in AZ). Found an '87 shortbed 2wd that has solid body parts and other odds/ends, no motor or drivetrain, BUT no title. Any issues with offing the rig to a scrapyard after I harvest what I need? I suppose I could chop it up and take it to the recyclers at the dump bit by bit... Thanks!
  2. Image Not Found ...and don't tow using steering parts! You should have seen the wicked toe-in this stunt created. Thanks PO!
  3. Looking to sell, I take it? If so, pm me and we can get the ball rolling. Thanks!
  4. Once again I will pay homage to the "previous owner" and ask the following... Dealer, independent, or locksmith (that will return phone calls and e-mails) for helping me with the ignition key that is broken off in the ignition and the door key that is non-existent??? Anyone tackle this themsleves? Thanks!
  5. Image Not Found This shot was taken a day after I had her delivered... Image Not Found Amidst other repairs over the past few weeks, decided to give her a nose job. Hood latch and release cable were both history, hence the hood-pin set-up...
  6. Has anyone here actually crossed off all items on their "lists"? For each job done, I add two more. Jeez!
  7. I would replace. Pain in the @$$ (on my 2.5, anyway). But the end result is magical, i.e. a running vehicle. Not sure if the defective starter was original, but it was coated in oil, road grime, etc. A thorough cleaning may have solved the problem, but while it was out of the vehicle I replaced it anyway. About $50 after bringing core back to Auto Zone.
  8. To add to the blasphemy... I have a turn-key Ford 302 (though it could use a rebuild) from a 1970 Ranchero I previously owned. Anyone seen a small block Ford grafted into a Comanche? Motor swap set aside, I would rather not do the math on tranny, t-case, and axle upgrades (yet). Yikes...
  9. ...I have chosen to ignore it and upgrade my steering components to a Rusty's outfit. (At my doorstep within 4 days for under $315) The stock tie rod had a sweet 30 degree bend in the middle from the previous owner winching the truck onto a flatbed by attaching a chain to the tie rod. The resulting toe-in is amazing. I'll keep you all posted on ease of install and performance. Keep in mind... no lift and factory tire size (for now). Should I install a lift and larger tires, I'll definitely look into a beefier set-up, but for now the Rusty's conversion should work fine. I hope...
  10. First off, god bless PO's. :???: I have similar issues. When brake is depressed, dash indicator lights light up like hazards are stuck on, only they don't blink. Just two silly green arrows pointing opposite directions. Such is life. Turn signal switch does nothing. No clicks, no lights. Head, tail, and markers work, brights work, but the other issues are quite annoying. There's a quality electrical shop in Chandler, AZ that I used before that I will have to hit up.
  11. Are BFG AT 31x10.5x15's too wide for a 15x7 wheel? The wheels that are presently on my MJ are in great shape, but I want to go a tad bigger than 30x9.5x15's. Thoughts? FYI, fender trimming is done and no short term plans for a lift (except maybe a budget boost if I decide on 31's). Need more stimulus money. And no, I don't want to do 38" swampers... Thanks all!
  12. If I start a thread, have all my questions answered, can I delete the post? Just curious. Had one response to my starter replacement post and then I finished the job. No sense in taking up space. Thanks all!
  13. Seeing a few "Rusty's Off Road sucks" comments here and there. What's the verdict with these guys? They seem to have solid products, though I am not educated enough yet to know how competetive their prices are. Any service issues to speak of? Just trying to do a little homework. Thanks all!
  14. So I rescued my '86 from a couple kids in Payson, AZ... Today I replaced the starter, fuel filter, fan shroud, serpentine belt, battery, and engine oil/filter. Cyphoned the bad gas from the tank and replaced with fresh. Engine turns, but will not fire up. Should you be able to hear a fuel pump whine when the ignition is turned on? My Chevy truck does it and I believe the '89 Cherokee I had did too. It seems like the issue is either the fuel pump or something else electrical. Any hints? So far, offering up a little TLC hasn't been enough to coax this rig into behaving. Perhaps I should give it my wallet, er wait, already did. Thanks all!
  15. Hey all! I'm a new Comanche owner  and new to the forums. I've been browsing through all the threads searching for performance upgrades for the 1986 2.5L I-4 (if there are such things). Intakes, throttle body spacers, exhaust, ignition, and gearing (with 30x9.5x15 tires). Thanks for any input! *J
