I can't remember where I saw it but I remember seeing an MJ that someone stuffed the 4bt's smaller brother in, the 3.3bt, the industrial engine. That engine is a bit smaller, but weighs similar to our 4.0s, and he was mighty impressed with it.

Chasing Gremlins, The Electrical Kind
Oddmodman replied to LarryH88bt's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I had a Geo Storm that had this problem. Hit a bump, died, and then would intermittently die even when I was driving, and sometimes wouldn't start for hours after an episode. Turned out it was my ignition coil (think that's what it's called), got bumped loose and then would lose connection every once in a while. Its fasteners failed.- 11 replies

Hey if you did it, let us know! I'm ALWAYS interested in diesel conversion, in anything.

Engine Dying Out When Going Downhill
Oddmodman replied to Knucklehead97's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Well, glad I called it when it was my last, not to mention rough, guess. Never had a cat clog before, but I know I'm removing every one off every vehicle I have since emissions disappeared here last year. Stupid things. -
Help Diagnose A Vibration And Sound After Sye ?
Oddmodman replied to skidoo_j's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
When you replaced your driveshaft did you put in a new U-joint or check if the old one was good? I know it's low-tech but it's the only idea I have. -
Right on man . When you say airbags, you mean airbags in the cab, or airbag suspension (which I know next to nothing about which is why I'm asking). Welcome! And PS, there's an axle-identifier chart around here somewhere.

Wow, I've never had that much problem with an exhaust system before, or heard of a gunked up starter. Interesting. Glad you got your driver figured out. Now get another vehicle lol. Even if just a motorcycle. I personally plan on getting a large amount of pleasure cutting out my cat when I put my truck back together. -

Yeah sweet ride! -
I'm curious. The bigger amperage alt. you use, does it pull more power to turn? In other words, like a stock fan, do you lose a bit of power?

How Many Times Has This Happened To You ? "that's A Jeep" ???
Oddmodman replied to '87 fuel-miser's topic in The Pub
Yeah I was walking out of the library once and an old lady left at the same time. She saw me open the door to my little black pickup that said J E E P on the tailgate, and she said, "I don't think I've ever seen a Jeep truck before." "Yes ma'am, not many of them made. They're kinda rare." I don't remember how she responded. -
XJs are repositories of parts for our MJs, nothing more, unless they're for the purpose of purchase and resale for profit.

Engine Dying Out When Going Downhill

I believe the solenoid only has to do with Starting the vehicle, and it's usually attached or next to the starter. The CPS is at the top of the transmission, and a real pain to get to. You pretty much have to drop the tranny a few inches and use very long extensions as well as a U-jointed socket. You may find more reliable info if you search for CPS or Crank Position Sensor in the Forum Search option. -
Wow no kidding? I wasn't even a dividing cell at that point lol. It's probably exploded since then were you to see it now.

Very possibly, and it's not hard to tighten up and find out too. That's a plus. -
How long ago was that? Btw it's where I live. North Peter's Creek.

Engine Dying Out When Going Downhill

You should try running it, then jiggle wires to try to narrow down which ones make it stall or die. Then trace them. Electrical problems are the biggest pain in the world. This is why I have 4 or 5 vehicles and multiple motorcycles too. One, two, three, four, if they all die, I still have transportation and don't have to be so anxious about fixing them. -
No offense to anyone's credibility, but there's no effing way anyone ever pulled even 30mpg out of that tail pipe unless it had a diesel in it, which I'm guessing it doesn't. The original 1.3 even injected only pulled maybe 28 with no mods. I got a Samurai for 500 bucks with a blown engine in it and bought a sidekick 16v for it for 150 bucks. Just haven't had the time to do the swap as of yet. I'd be super interested in modifying a Kubota or Yanmar 4 cylinder with a turbo and putting it in.

Adding an Auxiliary Fuse Box
Oddmodman replied to meljr's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
I'm not criticizing, I just don't know. Umm, what's the point? If something goes out won't it just blow 2 fuses? -
Coolest mudflaps I ever saw was on my buddy's Toyota truggy. He took old snowmachine tread and cut it to length. Looked mean. Looked awesome.

Is this your only vehicle? Did you check the CPS? Clean it? Ummm, bad battery or alternator...? -
I am in Alaska. And part native Eskimo. Pappy and Gramps were white. So what do I get? Coal black facial hair with individual white, gray and rare reds thrown in (weird), can't grow sideburns, stache, or goatee, and it takes about 2 weeks to grow maybe 3/8in long from my jaw line to my neck. Underarms are sparse, nether-regions are ridiculous though. *Cough, that's where I really need to trim... I end up using a Braun electric job. Not a blade. There's an option on the blade to get close but not down to skin. That's the option I use whenever I need a shave. That noon-shadow look. EDIT: Talking about my face for the last 3 sentences.

According to a buddy who goes hunting, fishing, motorcycling, and offroading, there are places around Houston but I don't have any details.
