This is my Glorious '87 Comanche Chief my father and I picked up. She was in numerous states or failure and decay. Buuuttttt, it appears the light at the end of the tunnel is nearing. One year later I think we're down to just body work and paint!!!

Little update:

All the major rust spots(holes) have been attended to thanks to my pops! Dropped both bumpers. Think I might replace the rear bumper with the Manta Ray plus side armor panels. Also removed the Jerry-rigged toolbox from the bed. We're all taped up and ready for primer! Then going to Rhino line the bed.

So the majority of my coworkers are busting my balls, saying that the truck looks like a technical that would be rolling around downtown Qatar with a .50 cal mounted in the bed, Haha! With that in mind I think the official truck name should be the "War Horse". What do you think?

So I would really like to start compiling the pieces and components to swap my 2.5, 5 speed manual 4wd to a 4.0, 5 speed manual 4wd. Not being 1% of the mechanic you guys here are, could you please help inform me as to what exactly I'll need to do this.

Side note to this, my father is a fantastic mechanic, but I would like to be able to bring him this project with complete parts as a surprise. Thanks for all the help in advance!!!

With the summer officially over, I guess it's time to get back into the garage and start tackling the ever growing list of projects.

The engine has been removed and will be at the shop being rebuilt next week! With that going on I'll be tearing out the entire interior, AGAIN, to replace all the old weather stripping throughout, install heat shield and sound deadening material throughout, replace the headliner and sun visors with my brand new SMS products and swap the old door cards with my NOS pair. The DirtBound Rock Sliders were dropped off today for powder coating. Then, moving to the exterior for some more rust removal from the body surface before repainting. Let me know what you think of the color choice!

Well....it's been way way WAY to long but things are finally starting to move forward. The engine has been completely rebuilt and reinstalled with an upgraded Borla header, thanks to SCGuy! The battery cables had seen better days, so they were replaced. Mechanically I believe we're 98% there. Also added heat/noise shield to the hood. Moving onto the interior now, which I'm hoping will move at a faster pace.

I also put together a Comanche frame for my father with various items.
