Replaced all the weather stripping, both channel runs, beltline moldings, division bar glass runs and door to body seals. Then moved onto wiring for the courtesy and dome lights. When I first bought the truck, there were no interior lights. The previous owner had removed them all and left behind a nice mess of loose wires. After installing new door light switches, referencing the Haynes Repair Manual and replacing all of the corroded, busted and burned out fuses, we able to successfully get the lights up and running! We're going with the Euramtec Universal 12V Auto Courtesy Flip Interior Light. They seem to be a nearly perfect replacement to the originals. We just needed to file the pillar opening just a hair to make them fit. Next up will be wiring the spot lights and fog lights. I will also be looking to add some extra padding to the bench seat, since the driver side is pretty worn down. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

We were able to get the Spot and Fog lights wired and mounted, right to the new switch panel, courtesy of ghetdc320. Went with Lasfit 3" LED Sport Series. Upgraded the headlights with HWstar 2022 Bright Anti-glare LEDs. The door speakers were shot, so we replaced them with Rockville 5.25" factory speakers. Then got the new door cards put in place, but realized that my current mini arm rests won't work. So I ordered new hockey stick style arm rests from TeamCherokee. Put up the new SMS Headliner from a1500ram, and added a DirtBound Molle Roof Rack with a Baja Design Dome Light. And finally got the vinyl floor back inside the cabin. Hopefully next time in the garage we'll get the bench seat squared away and put back in. I also saw in a Comanche group on Facebook that a '97 Wrangler shifter console that has a cupholder will fit with slight modification. I was able to fit it without the seat in, I think it'll work out pretty good. Super excited for the cupholder!!! Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The Wrangler's shifter console didn't work out the way I wanted. Even after making a few cuts, it stuck out a little to far, pushed into the bench seat and obstructed the actual shifter, keeping it from going into gear. Going to have to figure something else out or just scrap it all together. I added some much needed seat padding to the bench seat and gave it a extraction cleaning too. Now onto the BIG issue. . .RUST! After all the work that was put into sanding, cutting out and filling holes, it all came back after being on the street during our lovely New York winters! We started addressing the issues, re-sanding and welding until my father found a donor bed on Facebook Marketplace, in much much better condition in Pennsylvania, about 4 hours away. For $200, I think I got a pretty good deal. A few very very minor areas of rust, with very little rot to be filled. Got that sanded down and the old one pulled off. We're going to POR15 the frame and undercarriage before installing the new bed. I was able to pick up a standard Red set of the new Oracle LED Tail Lights, can't wait for those to ship! I'm also thinking about ordering a BoxyJeep replacement tail gate handle, current one is pretty shot. https://boxyjeep.com/products/jeep-comanche-tailgate-handle-full-assembly-1986-1992 That's all I have for now, a long time in-between garage days have slowed down the restoration greatly. Grabbed all the necessary supplies, I believe, to complete the body work before we move to paint. Can't quite lock down what color I want to go with. Leaning toward a dark blue/gray, just can't figure out the exact shade. Also, I don't think I ever showed the installed Rock Sliders from DirtBound. Originally went on upsidedown or backwards, which left a pretty good sized gap in-between the sliders and the body. We eventually figured it out! GrandComanche Posted August 13, 2023 Author Share Posted August 13, 2023 This paint color is wild! Depending on the angle, light source and brightness it can appear Green, Blue or Gray. I really like it a lot. We were able to Rhino line the bed, install the roll bar, spare tire mount, Jerry can holder and Oracle taillights. Ran into an issue with the truck starting and ended up having to replace the ignition coil and ignition control module. Which worked, until the electronic control module went. That will hopefully be here in the next few days. Then replaced the broken track bar mount. Did some more work on the Wrangler shifter console and got that secured in place where it shouldn't interfere with the shifter getting into gear. Also got the tailgate trim painted with help from my mother and her taping patience and added another Wander's Compass to the hood. There are still a few things I'd like to do and a few items I'm waiting on. 98ish percent done I believe.....this time. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

With the box off, we cleaned up the frame really good and painted it on nice and thick. Once it drys, it's rock hard.
