70barracuda
I definitely spent way too much on this but it is hands down the nicest steering wheel I've ever held. Adapter should be here tomorrow. I'm definitely gonna have to wear white gloves driving this thing now

70barracuda
Wheel installed! Factory cover fits too. Just no working horn for now. Amazing how tiny it feels compared to the factory one but I love it. Took it for a drive and feel way more comfortable cornering harder. Only issue is that it obstructs the top of the speedometer and gas gauge but only if I'm leaning forward, but the holley dash is in full view now. thecodemonk
Sweet! What size is it? Being smaller than the stock one a bit, I hear the steering feels a lot better.

No longer feel like I'm turning my tow truck.

Damn that’s awesome you still have your first ride. Looks like it’s in great shape. Would be cool to see a breakdown of the current setup at least. I'll probably do one but in this thread
70barracuda
Well I have ran into my first couple problems. 3 weeks with no issues was too long without a problem I guess the jeep decided. Clutch started dragging. Felt like bad syncros but in every gear almost instantly. Found the slave leaking so I rebuilt it (Novak slave). All was good for about 4 days and yesterday the clutch started to not fully disengage again. Slave wasn't leaking this time. It was after a pretty long day of driving in 90+ so I considered i boiled the clutch fluid. It was murky and frothy so I drained and refilled with dot 5.1. Higher boil point. Better, but Still not fully disengaging. Adjusted the push rod on the slave and still issues. I'm gonna try a new master cylinder but the stock one is only a .688 bore and slave is .75 so I'm thinking its not moving enough fluid? 1997 to 2001 xj master is .71 but mounting is not the same. Cj7 master is .81 which is larger than the slave but Novaks site say it should work. Maybe I'm not moving enough fluid or master is going out? Weird how it was fine for a while and now giving me trouble.
Limeyjeeper
I think the LS pressure plate requires significantly more pressure to move. It is 10.3" vs 11.7" and I bet the clamping pressure is much higher. The LS master cylinder is usually 3/4" which is pretty meaty. The slave is also 3/4 so it is pretty beefy too. I found a wilwood master that is 3/4. I just replaced the stock comanche one today and it's better but you can ever so slightly feel it grabbing still. Might do the cj7 7/8 master because I can get it tomorrow. Wilwood id have to wait. What are you running in yours?

Limeyjeeper
Sorry I misspoke I have Mopar Clutch master slave kit 52104110. It is from a 1994 - 1996 Jeep Cherokee. Remember I am also using the Jeep external bell housing not the GM one. The master cylinder mounting on the 97-01 is different. Instead of the bolts being vertical top to bottom they are offset for some reason. After more investigation All Jeeps from 1994 - 2001 have the same bore Slave cylinder 13/16. These were the external slave years. Master Cylinder wise all Jeeps had a master cylinder bore of either .699 to 1996 or .708" 97 - 01. Not a material difference in size. The CJ7 Master bore is .810" which is what about 10% bigger than the XJ. The slave appears to be the same 13/16.
70barracuda
got a new stock slave in and it definitely fixed my problem, but autozone quality strikes again. new master lasted ONE day. started leaking and I only found out because my turn signals stopped working and when i checked the fuse it was melted and wet with brake fluid... stuffed some papers towels under the master and hosed down the fuse block with electrical contact cleaner. the block itself seems okay. new fuse fixed the turn signals so I think I caught it in time. New LUK master is on order.
eaglescout526
Sounds like my issues except I got it down to the internal slave being crap.
Limeyjeeper
It always amazes me that Autozone charge so much for such crap. Glad you figured it out, had me worried for a minute there!!

I know there parts are crap but I was impatient and wanted to fix it. Shipping has just been so slow with everything but my new master will be here Tuesday with prime so I guess it's starting to get back to normal.
