desbennett004
That means it will be around 2035 when I will be able to afford to buy a used one with less than 200,000 on the clock and minimal rust. Just have to get my MJ to last until then.... Sent from my SM-N900W8 using Tapatalk
HOrnbrod
Looks like Fiat Chrysler has relegated the Jeep to the back of the bus to remain at status quo for now and shifted emphasis to Alfa Romeo. New Jeep models will receive nothing but simple facelifts and the JK based pickup has been postponed. I read it as being crap-canned. An example of Alfa priority is that the new Trailhawk will be built on a rear-wheel-drive platform developed by Alfa. :shake: Have been looking forward to a new Jeep JK-based pickup, ain't happening any time soon. Incommando
The KL Cherokee was already on a FIAT platform that it shares with its cousins the Dart & 200. The Renegade is FIAT as well. The Wrangler will be all-new in '18 and is not FIAT based. I still see the truck coming out.
ComancheKid45
Funny how they mention the Comanche name could be considered offensive but didn't hesitate at all bringing back the Cherokee name by itself... I also agree bringing back the Comanche name would be offensive, not because of the native Americans but because of what monstrosity it would be slapped on from Fiat... Yup. Although if you google you'll find all sorts of people taking offense over the name of the Cherokee, so I'm sure there's someone out there who'll get their fee-fees hurt. I do think whoever decided to sell a truck called the "Comanche Eliminator" wasn't really thinking straight, but I'm not offended, just amused. big66440
Sick and tired of everyone getting "hurt" and offended over everything lately, :shake:. I hope Jeep seriously considers offering a regular cab short bed version of it
HOrnbrod
Sick and tired of everyone getting "hurt" and offended over everything lately, :shake:. Yeah, me too. I attribute it to too much social media like Farcebook and the others and the need for the airheads to make noise on it. Next we'll see people in Cali and Colorado whining about the Ferrari California and Chevy Colorado, or people from other states complaining about USN ships named after their state. :dunno:
johnj92131
Don, You and I were in Jr. High when the first Ferrari California come out. The "California" name tag has been used by a number of automakers before. The geographic names never bothered me. I don't like the ships named Reagan, Ford, Carter, Bush, etc. Funny thing the Kennedy never bugged me and Lincoln and Washington are old enough that it doesn't bug me.. I always liked ship names like Midway, Enterprise, Wasp, Ranger, etc. Things like "Redskins", "Indians", "Navajo", "Kiowa", Apache, etc never bothered me. Nor did the old Studebaker "Scotsman" name for their cheapest truck ever bother this guy who was born in Scotland. Guess I am just totally, insensitive.

Keyav8r
I'd say the USS BO (pun intended) is appropriately crewed as portrayed above.
gogmorgo
The difference on the "offensiveness" factor between Cherokee and Comanche is that the Cherokee (and/or Grand Cherokee) nameplate has been in continuous production for over 40 years and applied to millions of vehicles worldwide, becoming part of the Brand's heritage. Comanche on the other hand was a name applied to a run of what, 200,000 small trucks built 25-32 years ago that most people don't even remember existed unless they owned one and no one notices because it's just an old small truck to most people. While a JK truck would be cool, I don't think a body-on-frame truck is deserving of the name Comanche. Call it a J— if you will, but not a Comanche. I still kinda want to see that Renegade truck put into production without that lame convertible top, but I'm not optimistic. Also a rear-drive Alfa platform in my mind is a better base for a Jeep than a front-drive one. It would be awesome to see the next Renegade in a traditional longitudinal configuration. We need more rear-drivers out there anyhow.

87Warrior
Have been looking forward to a new Jeep JK-based pickup, ain't happening any time soon.Oh Don, you know they have been dangling the pickup (Gladiator) over out heads since 2004. I've flat given up hope and am now most concerned that, if in fact a Jeep pickup is built, it will be nothing more than a watered down Euro mini truck. HOrnbrod
With bottom-line motivated El Sergio yanking all of Fiat-Chrysler's strings, that's probably exactly how a new Jeep pickup would look if it ever comes to fruition Brett. He could care less about Jeep's heritage and tradition.
DirtyComanche
The good news is that Aqualu can build a tub and box for you if you just want to make one.
