HOrnbrod
I picked up a slightly-crusty MJ tailgate a few weeks ago from CC member thejim42 down in Birmingham and transformed it into my new beer drinking bench on the back deck. Very comfy........ jdwillys
Very nice! What did the wood come from?
HOrnbrod
Very nice! What did the wood come from? I got the wood from an old storage shed that had collapsed in a nearby field a few years back. I was driving by when the guys were getting ready to torch it and I grabbed some siding. I think the wood is red gum and it's HARD! The wood for the bench was left over from some rocking chairs I made awhile back. Glad I saved the wood. Old Gus needs a haircut........... Minuit
Man, that's what passes for a crusty tailgate down there? Probably still even has the bottom seam intact! That is a really nice bench, though.

johnj92131
Don, You need to replace that tailgate handle. You must have an extra chrome one laying around in your parts stash.

That would be great! The black one that's on it now is in good shape and is looking to get traded for one that shines. :brows:

Yes, exactly. Satin polyurethane. It's amazing how heavy these benches are when finished, si?
