Man, I hope this one is for real. If it is I'll be getting one and the MJ will most likely go away. I'd love a JK-based pickup. This what I use for my desktop background.

well, there seems to be enough chrome on it for ya Don.....

then again, maybe not :rotfl2:

Don, you know that is the same group of Gadiator concept photos that have been floating around since 03/04.

Truly I am not excited about a Jeep pickup. I'm sure it will be as big of a let down as the Cherokee was...you know, a candy coated Fiat. Probably something like this:

If a Jeep truck happens in 2017 and it's "Cherokee" based or based on another Jeep/Fiat joke platform, I won't even go look at it. If it's JK based with the 3.6 Pentastar engine or better, I'll jump on it. The JK drive train is super reliable now, and many 3.6's are chugging around now with over 200K on them. And I love the styling. The extended cab is not overblown with 4-doors and the bed with tonneau cover proportions it out well. And they should weigh considerably less than a JKU if they use aluminum as promised, ensuring good performance and decent economy. This is what the modern jeep truck should look like IMO, classic styling that screams JEEP! with a modern proven drive train. I see all positives in a rig like this, except for the cost. In spite of that, there will be a waiting list for them before they hit the dealer's lot. I really hope this isn't just more of the usual Jeep marketing blabber.

Blasphemy! ^^^ Get a rope! Just kiddin....Here I was, sittin all happy hoping they would call it a Comanche, if they did, then the value of my MJ would go up because of the renewed interest in the "old" Comanche. Now I'm scared...., hope I'm not gonna be shamed:(

door and tailgate handles need some of the shiny stuff.  :D

I'll stick with my "classic" one. When these new ones are 25 years old I think most of 'em will have long since been turned into soda cans. Maybe I'm looking at this the wrong way, but new cars these days just seem so expendable.

I will believe it when I see them at the dealership as all these website do the same BS each year and spew out info that has been recycled for someone else and slap a new date on it...

When they do make it and it is based on the gladiator concept I will be in line to buy one as well  especially since

I am starting my part collection to build the gladiator concept myself out of a few JK's and will gladly stop if they build it and my MJ will be chopped up for parts

I'm excited to see what they come up with. If it's based on the wrangler and comes with four doors and a diesel I would look at buying one.

Diesel yes, four doors NOT. That's what the JKU is for.

probably wrangler price + 15% if i had to guess, it won't be affordable like the MJ was

The MJ wasn't affordable. It was more expensive than most of the competition.

I don't know about the NuKizer, or the old Gladiator concept, but the latest one that came out with the FC concept would be perfect. Meet the J12.

also good :D

I'm curious if the new pickup will have a separate bed.  they could go either way with it.

In the photo from the link in the first post, it looks like bed is separate. And, looks like rear opening rear doors. This looks more factory legit than other truck photos I've seen.

My MJ was affordable with no options. $7,000 for a longbed truck in 1989 seems reasonable to me. I have the sticker.

My Cherokee was over double or close to triple in 1990 as a Laredo though.

I was a young Lance Corporal in 1989 and a guy in my platoon bought a 2wd 4cyl Comanche.  When I asked him why he chose it, he said because it was the cheapest new pickup he could find.

the $6,995 price tag in 1986 would equate to 15K today

a bare bones Nissan frontier today is 18K, Tacoma 21K (was recently doing some fleet purchasing)
