Curt
Is it permissible on these forums to ask what it might be worth? I understand that I will need to post a lot more info, but before I do I don't want to get into trouble with forum rules. I see that I am supposed to post a price, and I have no idea what my truck is worth. What say you, forum mods? :)
Alexia
I believe something like that would be asked in The Pub forum.(Moving it there now.) Though, I would expect everyone around here to give low ball prices. :P
dj5
my $.02 is that like any older vehicle, its worth what you think its worth, and worth a completely different number to the buyer
jimoshel
Just ask a ridiculously high figure and state the price is negotiable. Don't ask to high or you will scare off any prospective buyer. Check the ads for comparable vehicles and see what they.re going for.

Minuit
CC is a notorious bunch of tight @$$es, myself included. The truth of the matter is these trucks are worth what someone's willing to pay for one. The consensus is that MJs are going up in value. As to how much, who knows? Bonkers
Its not CC - its jeepers in general. We all think our Mjs are worth at least $3500, but none of us will every pay over $1500 for anything less than exceptional. (if you'll excuse the fishing analogy) My rule of thumb - decide honestly the least you'd be happy with, tack on $500 and throw the line in the water. If you get bites you're happy. If you get a real bite you're well with negotiating numbers. If you get nothing you are WAY too high. Oh, minnows love anything that hits the lake so expect guys like me to come for a hail-mary lowball offer - cuz, well, you never know these days... HOrnbrod
Its not CC - its jeepers in general. I think it's worse here. On CC you can offer a part up for free, then the cheap "person" who wants it asks if you could ship it free also. True story. :shake:
Curt
Thanks folks. I guess I need to do more research, then make a decision on a price and post in the for sale forum. Thanks for the replies and the forum move, Alexia.

But asking to ship for free? Rude. If that ever happened to me I would NOT be happy. That's not the CC way. Jeepers tend to be cheap. The unibody guys like us are especially cheap. JK guys, well they can't be. So it's all over the map. Price what the truck is worth to you and go from there.
johnnyc
I once had someone ask me to deliver a free item 100 miles away. I politely declined.
Blue XJ
I had something similar happen, I was selling something for $10 (value was easily $100, I just wanted it gone) He asked if a 6 pack of beer would cover it instead of $10. I said sure, then he asked if I would meet him somewhere 1/2 way. I told him I will be throwing it in the garbage the next day because I would rather throw it away then go through that much hassle for $10. I never heard back. Curt
My apologies Pete. I did start this thread in classifieds. It was moved here. I was looking for advice on a decent price to ask for my truck, as there is no "what's it worth" forum. I had planned on offering it for sale here, once I knew where to start the asking price. I suppose that's not going to happen. I'm going to guess on a price and offer it for sale via local media. If it doesn't sell, since it still runs just fine, I will drive it to the scrapyard and take whatever they will give me. That will be a damned shame. My thanks to all that have offered advice. Pete M
you're thinking too hard about it. It's not rocket science. pick a number and run with it. if it's too high, the offers will come.
Curt
Thanks Pete, excellent advice. Still doesn't answer my original question, correct forum or not. That's ok, my truck will get sold. Thank you all that tried to help.
