Can Spell Comanche

Can Spell Comanche (2/11)

  1. Found a suggested price at NADA, headed to classifieds, thanks folks.
  2. Thanks Pete, excellent advice. Still doesn't answer my original question, correct forum or not. That's ok, my truck will get sold. Thank you all that tried to help.
  3. My apologies Pete. I did start this thread in classifieds. It was moved here. I was looking for advice on a decent price to ask for my truck, as there is no "what's it worth" forum. I had planned on offering it for sale here, once I knew where to start the asking price. I suppose that's not going to happen. I'm going to guess on a price and offer it for sale via local media. If it doesn't sell, since it still runs just fine, I will drive it to the scrapyard and take whatever they will give me. That will be a damned shame. My thanks to all that have offered advice. Curt
  4. sorry, I knew I would forget something. It's a 2 wheel drive. I can email pics. I'm near Gridley, KS.
  5. Some info on the truck would help with an assessment... '86 Comanche Pioneer 4 cyl, 4 speed manual. 216k on the clock, and I am the original owner heat and A/C works beige with tan interior, bench seat sliding rear window, gun rack too :) Pioneer stereo 7 foot bed with two 7 foot side boxes always garaged, never been wrecked That's all I can think of at the moment. Any questions? I'm gonna need a photobucket account or I can email pics. edit: located in SE KS
  6. Thanks folks. I guess I need to do more research, then make a decision on a price and post in the for sale forum. Thanks for the replies and the forum move, Alexia.
  7. Is it permissible on these forums to ask what it might be worth? I understand that I will need to post a lot more info, but before I do I don't want to get into trouble with forum rules. I see that I am supposed to post a price, and I have no idea what my truck is worth. What say you, forum mods? :)
  8. Ok, thanks for the quick replies.
  9. What is its' purpose? Can the hose going to it be plugged with no ill effects? tyia
  10. Check the tranny mount/exhaust hanger. Mine was rubbing there in a spot I couldn't easily see. I fixed it with shims under the tranny mount bolts.
  11. It's a temperature sensor that controls the warm air inlet in the air cleaner box. When it's cold it pulls warm air off the exhaust manifold.
  12. Nope. The computer will compensate by pulling the ISA in farther. Even if you unplug the ISA, the computer will compensate, I assume by changing the timing. Before you change anything, be absolutely certain you don't have a vacuum leak. Get a full can of carb spray and with the engine idling, spray everything vacuum related, and listen for an rpm change. Pay special attention to the rubber block that connects the TB to the vacuum manifold. That is where my problem was. The ISA has some special installation and adjustment procedures. I can't remember where I got it, but if anyone wants it I will be glad to email the .pdf to you. Also, if you disassemble the ISA, when you pull the cover off pay attention to the plastic hex nut that is threaded onto the plunger. This affects the overall length and the closed throttle switch. Lose this length and you are well and truly screwed. Don't ask me how I know.
  13. Would you post the link to the special bleeding procedure for the MJ please sir?
  14. Rubbing salt all over the body will eventually help with weight removal. (the MJ body, not your sisters' body) :wavey:
  15. Check for a vacuum leak. Get a can of carb spray and with the engine idling, spray around the TB and the vacuum lines. Any change in idle speed will indicate a leak.
