lexluthier72 Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Today, it just sort of happened, I was cruising along on the freeway, and despite all the work it needs and all its quirks, and faults...I was just really content in owning an MJ.
Comanche County Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 You sir have officially entered "Good Dude" status among us MJ owners. Welcome, you are appreciated!
lexluthier72 Posted May 13, 2012 Author Posted May 13, 2012 I do remember going through minor issues and being very frustrated with it when I first got it. Thinking the constant repair may never end. It then occurred to me I had not worked on it in a few months....
apexjeepinjoe Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 I bond with mine more and more every time I work on it.
jimoshel Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 The last time I bonded with my MJ was when it slipped of the jack and caught my head between the brake drum and cement floor. Fortunately I have extra brake drums.

Backdraft Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 My car is my primary means of transportation (still paying on it BTW), and I find I drive the MJ more. Is it weird to talk to it while cruising down the road?
SW86 Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Is it weird to talk to it while cruising down the road? i knew i wasnt the only one. i also talk to him while I'm wrenching on it. mainly, "why in the @#$% are you fighting me! I'm just trying to help you!"
lexluthier72 Posted May 13, 2012 Author Posted May 13, 2012 Jim...but you do not have an extra head. Backdraft....Totally normal.
ComancheKid45 Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Atleast once almost everyday....wether its wrenching, Driving, or just admiring 8)
Optimaldave Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Oh yeah, She can be a right pain in the arse sometimes but whenever I drive I realize I wouldn't want any other truck...

my86mj Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 i got that after i rebuilt the carb and put my new wheels on. flying down the freeway doorless with the stereo blasting hearing that nice heartly warble from the motor. that and the thing boogies pretty good. just the best feeling in the world.
MJeep Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Yea, driving my 89 home from the PO's a couple months ago, i knew it was the start of something good
WBKrazy Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 yeah.. the most memorable time was when i was up in new hamsphire for the day, and after driving 2 hours back home to rhode island promptly realized upon getting out of the truck that my house keys were still up at the cabin :wall: she was running a little rough that day but i gave her a little pep talk and she made the 4 hour trip again without issue
Geonovast Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 I give mine a pat on the bed every time I see them, and apologize that I don't have the ability to fix them and drive them.
AMCJeepMJ Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 I get the warm/fuzzy feeling every morning when it starts without question in the coldest of Oregon high desert winters.
buffalob Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 Everytime I have a really crappy day at the office and go out and see her in the parking lot looking forward to the drive home... I am instantly in a better mood. My wife mentioned the other day that with all I have spent (time and $$) on the two trucks and trailer, parts parts parts and ...also more parts. I could have bought a new truck. I said what would be the point in that... it would be a new truck and not a manche.... For the price of the "new " truck I have my newly converted to 4X4 88 short bed, a factory 4X4 87 project, a killer trailer (enough parts to build another MJ) AND... have put three out of four kids into jeeps all the while watching the addiction go to the next generation...can you say "priceless"??? yup I bond with bucky every single day My name is buffalo and I am an addict.........
87mjdriver Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 I drive a beater Honda for my commute to work so the mj doesn't get much drive time, there are days when I think of selling it cause it just sits in the driveway, but it never fails I take it for a drive and it puts a smile on my face. Even better is that every time I drive it I get a nod, a thumbs up, or a compliment on it or some old timer will chat me up about. Honda is in the shop and I drove the truck to work today, had a guy in a brand new BMW m3 come alongside and give me a big nod as he was looking at it
cz777 Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 I bond with mine more and more every time I work on it. wow its sounds like more like sex ........ouch ,she kissed me again!
SW86 Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 I give mine a pat on the bed every time I see them, and apologize that I don't have the ability to fix them and drive them. i can always take one off your hands. I'm not that far away for you to come visit!
Tux_Fan Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Not yet I haven't. However I also haven't driven her more than 500 feet... I remember those times with my XJ though. No other vehicle really gives me vibes like that. Not even my motorcycle which is particularly fun to drive...
