    bad day !

    for some time now all was good with MJ ! Monday last week a big puff of white smoke came out exhaust pipe .....what the heck now ??/ pull head off and clean up things found between 2/3 head gasket was char out -still in shape ,the worst part was #2 piston has a hole right to the top ring with groove on cylinder wall -all in same area showing broken ring etc well at 270,000 miles ok overhaul time ......wow MJ is one tough old girl .......on the lighter side of things rob who sold her to me in '06 ....said this to me .....if you get sick or jeep breaks down, which one will gets it next ?you two are too alike .... last year i was out of commission due to two heart attacks and gull blatter infection ,she sat up for almost 6 months.... now MJ is sick... damn strange .......one for the book now !!!
  4. i am dumping all the bolts to studs[grade 8] high heat steel with brass nuts with holding washers ........other thing is the use of copper rtv very thin on the gasket .....
  5. i have been down since june because 2 heart attacks and emergency gull blatter removal .......So poor MJ has been sit up ....and she is real pissed off a bad water pump and water found in #3 on the plug .....and water in the oil aka milk shake of doom .....well damn !!!

  7. i went with #40 ...and got a pacesetter header too now this is a lot nicer sound not so load ....works well but cleaned off the paint and used 2000* paint for two months now staying well painted black

  10. maybe flow is not good ...welding on flanges inside ''leaking '' and o2 maybe bad
  11. The three puller holes were completely plugged with dirt and grime, had to be first found because it was not obvious they were even there, then chased with a Tap to clean them out. i put flanged bolts in with anti-seize .....just to keep them clean for pulling
  12. well i had other Critters had overheat troubles, water pump can have bad impellers like rusted apart /falling apart etc bad radiator plugged up /bad cap /bad hoses coolant bring bad .. .....its a flow pattern follow the flow from radiator to engine and back

  14. i believe to build for the worst case, no matter what ! the pay back is in the longer life ,now add in the kind of grease bringing used as well ...the care of your parts too ....just the moog for me .....

  16. clutch pedal add one more to the mix of things happing ...my friend mj lost his clutch ..it was a two for one trouble -the hydraulic master blew out and pedal broke where the weld was not done from the factory so heads up ..if take replace your master take out the pedal and get it welded ,add gusset angle from the connector where the arm to master connector mate ...its a 45* angle 1/4 thick ....outside area is not welded but inside area must be welded ......
  17. you can use the Mitsubishi 2.4 liter pcv [ with the long nose one ' with 8mm hose ......next thing is inverted chimney in the cover [rear one] needs one mod plug the 3/8' with hex plug [thread the hole ]
  18. yes they do die too, my worked till 3 months ago too it was made in Canada now the new one is made in Mexico ....damn !
  19. the ground taps for redix .....old wiring is one the biggest head aches i have run into -by flexing for years etc things break ...other is corrosion at the plug/sockets ....
  20. damn lifter failed[center is mauled out ] ! what the damn moo with red break in goo thick as hell and fresh oil ...rest are ok pulled them ....well time to build a short block time ...if you start have strange power struggles and hear lifter bleed down -rocker arms are rubbing on the valve stems a creeling sound /noisy start up lifter noise .....dive in !
  21. please add in the fuel with alcohol plays hell too with o2 sensors .......
  22. i had a broken wire in the harness going to the tps ...talk about drive you nuts -them old wires with all the flexing they do - use a vom with conductive alarm and follow the wire /wiggle test

  24. yes that's what i said too Huh? what the hell ......anybody heard of this before ? now the loss of power is the kicker - all rockers are moving but #1 exhaust is weakly.....knocking is like hit and miss -i know what rods and mains sound like if a bearing spins out ...i am going take the oil psi test ....maybe r&r #1 exhaust lifter the weak one .....i am still wondering what the damn moo !
