Replaced the Crank Position Sensor. It died on me at the store, first time ever, but finally started again after cranking it over about 20 times. Drove it home and tryed to start again numerous times over 3 days, but, it was a no go. Finally put the circuit tester on it and it read DOA. Past 6 months had an annoying little miss in it. Couldn't find casuse of it until today when I put the new CPS in. The miss disappared, now runs smooooth.

tore out the tranny thinking the pilot bearing was bad turned out it was the clutch disk lost a spring. Sitting at a the shop i was working on it waiting for a new clutch disk to come in. Then will be replacing the pilot bearing since i have it and will be putting on a new oil pan gasket.

Yesterday:

Took an NP242 with a SYE started on it (and foobarred) with a 1/4" hole 1/2" deep and off center in the output shaft. That's the reason I got a hold of it for $50. Played around with a Dremel and tungsten-carbide bit fr a few minutes, then up onto the drill press and I now have a 3/8" hole 2" deep within 1/32" of center. Close enough for me. Still need to drill out the hole in the yoke to 1/2" and tap the shaft for a 7/16" bolt.

Also went through 2 cutting disks clearancing a WJ lower control arm and corner of a front shock mount on the axle to allow it to droop as far as a stock control arm (actually goes a bit further now). Need to buy some more cutting disks to do the other side.

Sparkles is starting to come along.

Picked up a Dana 44 rear axel from a u pull it, along with drivers quarter panel, steering wheel, and chrome grille... Then promptly drank 3 32oz poweraid drinks at the nearest gas station, I have a feeling I will be regreting that tonight....

Painted the base coat on the hood of dads MJ and bought a new key cylinder lock for the former MJ donor... Looks like we will be fixing up an XJ.

RockMJ nice little pup, our beagle Chaos, like to hang out with me under the jeeps :D

I saw the 44, congrats man! I need to fine one of those, and soon! Thanks for the compliments on JP. He is one fiesty hombre but he loved riding in the Liberty with the wife and I.

On a Jeep related note. I am just about ready to start putting the headliner back in and some of the trim molding!

Began swapping parts over from the Black Hole to the Grey Goose. Mostly interior stuff. The PO of the Grey Goose had moved the nice bench seat back to it's farthest setting and WELDED the slider in place. I'm 5' 6" on a good day so the 85 mile drive home was less than optimal. I took the XJ seats from the Black Hole and put them in as a temporary solution. They don't fold forward so I will install folding seats in the next few months.

rebuilt the front axle in my DD 99xj with all new diff/pinion bearings and seals, 1 new hub, 1 new u-joint (other side is only a year old), and new spider gears. funny thing is it's a 99 truck, with an axle build date in 98, but the outer pinion bearing and race are 96 and older part numbers :hmm: why does this have anything to do with my MJ? this XJ is a future donor...

Finished my spare tire mount...

When I take it out, there's only a 1/2" hole in the bed. The bottom piece stays in though. The bolt is the same size as the lug nuts. Still need to figure out a way to lock it. What do you guys think?

Thanks comanche.gif

Replaced the tranny/trf case mount Took the wind up out of the drive line that the worn out mount caused. Installed to 1 1/2" ring tie downs under the bed rails on the fenders as additional strapping points for loads.

Removed broken rear diff vent hose only to find the plastic connectors were broken on both ends. Are those things still available at dealers ?

can you drill a hole in the bolt and use a small lock? or use a cable that can be put through the bolt and locked?

Or you can make a new bolt out of a piece of all thread and a locking lug nut. Then you just use the key and your lug wrench to remove it. That would also work for your High Lift Jack mount as well.
