Baja Fiber. They do all kinds of cool stuff including flare sides. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk -
I used SD Springs. Been on the Comanche for about 5 years, Similar price. Never had a problem. I used the 3+1 rides well.

Anybody running 12 hole injectors?
Limeyjeeper replied to WahooSteeler's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It all depends at what pressure the injector is rated for. A 24lb injector at 43 psi would be about 21.7lb @39 PSI. If it is rated at 39 psi then it would choke a Renix. Stock renix injectors are 21lb @39psi. If your injectors are 23.2lb @49psi they would be around 18.4lb at 39 psi which is a bit small. If they are 23.2lb @43psi then they would be dead on 21lb which is perfect for a Renix. a lot of Bosch injectors are rated at 43 psi. I suspect these are too. To calculate flow you need to do the following calculation:- (New PSI/Original PSi) x Original Flow. So a 24lb @43PSI injector flowing at 39 psi would be (39/43)*24= 21.7. Most early HO stroker guys use 24lb/39 PSI Mustang 4 hole injectors. Which on the 39 PSI HO rail gives you enough flow for the bigger combustion chamber. (96 onwards had 49 psi rails so 30lb Ford injectors are needed. Knowing the PSI the flow is rated at is critical in making a correct decision. -

24lb injectors are way too big for a stock 4.0. Those are reserved for Stroker motors!! -
The Notch flares look really good. JCR had them on their Comanche, but they need a lot of work to get them to fit perfectly. Don't know about Napier.

Factory Switch Darkening
Limeyjeeper replied to SatiricalHen's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have been using Griots plastic polish. It works pretty well in cleaning up switches and backing plates. Takes some rubbing but it seems to do the trick. Left switch untouched, right one polished. -
I have the Spectra Premium JP5B tank. About $100. Fits well and has the baffle. For the SWB Comanche. Lasted 5 years so far. Gonna put the same one in my new build. Jeep Cherokee tanks don't fit.

I have the Trucklites. They have a very sharp cutoff and produce a great light pattern. Not cheap still about $300 a pair. But very high quality.

Also modified the warning light cluster to add a headlight on warning light. Got this from the UK cluster. Repaced the Security indicator which isn't used. You can't see the join. I am going to wire this and the low washer fluid warning when I put her back together. Already wired the Full Time 4WD light in my current Comanche for the NP242. Will repeat on this build. Cleaned up the bezel using Griots Plastic polish. -

This little can shaker has proven to be invaluable. Such a simple device but really shakes up those aerosols for a consistent finish. Attaches to a Sawzall https://www.mixkwik.com -

Managed to spray the chassis and bottom of the bed over the weekend with U-Pol Raptor. Very impressed. Great product goes down really well. Pretty much ready to go to paint. Use a respirator the VOC's off this stuff are nasty. -
Clutch master cylinder trouble
Limeyjeeper replied to JeepDreamer26's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I had mine recently jamb with the piston buried in the back of the master cylinder because I pushed down too hard on the pedal while putting my wallet back into my back pocket. Tolerances are not quite right on some of the aftermarket ones. -
Here are a couple of pics showing what Strokermjcomanche was describing. Replace one of the plugs with a grommet. The holes are 1" in diameter.

Love those guys at Team Cherokee. A wonderland of hard to find parts, not always the cheapest but they have some really rare stuff. Clips and Fasteners are great for cheap Jeep clips and fasteners. And not forgetting the Meanlemons battery cables!! -

Primed Clutch and brake pedal assembly, just need to paint gloss black then ready for rebuild with new plastic bushings Really liking the Eastwood 2K ceramic aerosol paints and primers. Lay down really well. Not cheap but appear to be really strong. Now I need to mock up the pedals in the firewall and drill the holes for the clutch master cylinder. Part of the Auto to AX15 conversion. Luckily Jeep put dimple markings in the firewall for the holes. So it is pretty easy to align properly. Didn't get it right on my current Jeep. Cost me a broken master cylinder due to the pedal being slightly misaligned. -

Getting the bed prepped for U-Pol next weekend - weather permitting. Etching primer then adhesive promoter. Only want to do this once....Ran out of primer. More on the way. One can from U-Pol did most of the underside of the bed, which is pretty good. This bed will never rot when I am finished!! -
Brown dog mounts even with the ultra flex rubber bushings give a whole new meaning to NVH!!. Can't fault the build quality but I won't be using them in my new build.

The Toyo Open Country ATII are great tires. They are also really quiet which after the Duratracs is a nice change!! Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

Interesting Conundrum.. leaking gas tank
Limeyjeeper replied to Dzimm's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Filler neck leak usually doesn't cause continuous dripping after a fill. If it is dripping when 3/4 full it is highly likely that it is going to be the fuel pump seal. Drain down to half a tank and see if the leak stops. If it does then the seal is probably the culprit. -
Pete, I have been on this forum since 2007 and have around 100 posts, which is embarrassingly bad. I will absolutely make the effort to give as much as I take from this club going forward. Thank you for your post it really hit home. I think with the Gladiator coming out there will be more interest in the Comanche. Wherever I go in mine I always meet people who want to stop and look at it. It was an eye opener to be at SEMA 2018 and see built Comanches. When did that ever happen before?

Bed is done. Found a little accident damage on one corner panel. Not a big issue. Pete, agree on keeping the drain holes clear. The Comanche hasn't got enough already without me blocking what there is!! -

Off to get the bed blasted. Then I can spray the inside and underneath with U POL Raptor bedliner. Heard really good things about it. Might even do the underside of the cab. Supposed to be a pretty good sound insulator. Also got the hood. Fit is decent but as always with fiberglass not perfect. Will need some work. But I think it looks pretty cool.
