AW4 to AW4 tranny swap

Torque converter seal, output shaft seal on the transmission, input and both output shaft seals on the transfer case. Also would be a good time to remove the pan and replace the filter on the transmission since everything is out in the open if you'd like. -
Fuel gauge not working after cluster swap...

I believe it's the purple wire off the sending unit that is the float level wire...find where it goes into the cluster and test it for continuity ;) -
So how many '92 Hunter Green Metallic owners here?
ComancheKid45 replied to 91Pioneer's topic in The Pub
Orange, nooooooo...... Why? Got any pics? two reasons. i had to sell it to automan2164 because i was starting college that was a 90 mile round trip. i needed something easy on gas and a little more reliable. i wish i would have held onto it. had to sell the 92 and my ATV and bought a honda civic. my second reason is knowing how it ended up. I'm sure glad someone spent the time to redo the bodywork, but man was i bummed when i found out it was painted orange. It's still alive and well... ;) I'm gonna end up with it someday, maaaaaaybe I'll be able to have it repainted to its former glory, its still a very nice truck after all the overhauling. -

Yep, get another, split it open and slap a new chain, fork pads and seals in there and you'll be good to go. -

Picked up a new exhaust manifold for dirt cheap and slapped it in yesterday, that now completes the exhaust overhaul, brand new front to back! Waiting on my relay harness for my LED headlights yet. Friends and I are hoping to hit up Rausch Creek later this spring. It's been 4 years since I was there last so I'm excited for that! -
LED Headlights not operating correctly
ComancheKid45 replied to ComancheKid45's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I ordered a harness upgrade kit. I'll toss that in and see if anything changes. I read that through the 25+year old factory setup only 10.5 volts only show up to the lights themselves. We'll give that a shot and go from there. -

LED Headlights not operating correctly
ComancheKid45 replied to ComancheKid45's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
How would you go about reversing the polarity?..... Electrical work is by far my weak point. -
Alright fellas, if you happened to read the "lighting options" thread you would have seen the mention of Cree sealed beam LED headlights. Anyway I bought a set and went to install them this evening and noticed an issue. Here we go... When one side is installed along with a standard sealed beam on the other side the LED lights up fully on low beam, on high beam though it shuts off. With both LED lamps installed on low beam they both are bright on the top and the bottom 2 rows are very dim, and High beam is inoperable. So my question to you is, what's up? Haha. It's a stock non relay upgraded headlight harness and I even tried it out on my 96 XJ to see if it was a renix era issue with the same results. Just interested in opinions or options before i take action to possibly return them. Thanks for any info!

I didn't get a new harness with the t case, is this something that's already integrated in a stock renix harness? -
AW4 to AW4 tranny swap
ComancheKid45 replied to dcramer67's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Literally just did this last month. Swapped a 95 aw4 and 231 into my 88 MJ. Straight bolt in swap, besides a couple small things Speedo cable housing will need to be swapped in place of the electronic plug. The shift arm on the Aw4 will need to be swapped due to different angles Otherwise its straight forward, Id recommend changing all the seals you can while everything's out and easly accessible and a new torque converter isn't a bad idea as well as check your flexplate on the engine for cracks. The only downside after the swap is you will lose your "part time" indicator light, I'm not sure if theres a way to keep that...Otherwise take your time, hire a friend or 2 for the day and dig in!
