I absolutely can't stand Craftsman ratchets. Not enough teeth, the handle digs into my hand, and they've got a nasty habit of switching directions at the worst possible moment in my experience. My main ratchets are the Gearwrench 120XP flex heads, and I'll never go back. I have not treated them kindly in the past 3 years, and they're still good as new. The molded handles do get grungy after some use. I've got some Proto stuff here and there, no complaints. I will say that for wrenches, the set of Wright combo wrenches I have blows everything else out of the water. I keep meaning to pick up a set of their flare nut wrenches...

If you haven't fixed it by tomorrow morning, I can get you wiring diagrams from the '91 FSM. Won't have access to my books until then.

Your dedication to the little 2.5L is admirable mnkyboy :thumbsup: I'm not typically a 4-banger kind of guy but even I have to admit that thing sounds mean as hell and it sure looks like it goes like hell too. I'd love to see what kind of numbers you're getting out of it.

Has the battery been taken out recently? On my 91 there was a small one-wire connector coming from the positive battery cable that came unplugged resulting in exactly those symptoms. I believe the connector itself is red.

If I'm remembering correctly, the plaque on this is a trophy shop fake that doesn't even have Comanche spelled right.

Here's what the FSMs say. I'd say you can probably adjust the potentiometer on the 87 tach to make it work from the HO signal if you can get it wired up. 1990 FSM (87 should be the same) 4 Cylinder : 66.7 Hz/2000 rpm, 166.7 Hz/5000 rpm 6 Cylinder: 100 Hz/2000 rpm, 250 Hz/5000 rpm 1994 FSM 4 and 6 Cylinder: 66.7 Hz/2000 rpm, 166.7 Hz/5000 rpm I'll have to get my 1991 FSM and see if it agrees.

I inherited both my uncle's and my dad's collection of hardware. Dad had an old steamer trunk full of the nuts and bolts, all neatly organized. (My sister wanted the steamer trunk, but I got the nuts, bolts, screws, washers, very slightly used nails. All the good stuff). Added it to my own collection, moved it around to a bunch of different houses. Finally realized it was taking me more time to find what I needed each time I went to the collection than it took to go to a specialty hardware store and get just the right parts for the current project. So if I needed 4 specialty parts - I would buy a dozen of them. Hey, I will save me all that time in 5 or 10+ years when I need a spare, right? So now I just add stuff to the collection and never take anything out of it. Gauge clusters, you say? I will have to pull out a very large plastic tote box full of them to find how many Renix clusters I own. I went on a buying binge a couple years back for them. You actually own a Renix era truck that you could use your 6 gauge clusters in??? How strange...I don't own a Renix era truck - never did. But I do have a bunch of gauge clusters. Can we trade pictures? Maybe we can just swap stories about each of them. What do you say? :rotf: I'd need to get them all out and get a family picture. At one point almost every room in my house had its own gauge cluster. I'm typing this from the "1989 full cluster with 32k miles and a suspiciously tampered with speedometer head" room.

Sadly, the gorgeous blue faced full cluster went away after 1987. I did some poking around before I swapped a full cluster into my 91 and just decided to go with the standard HO full cluster as there wasn't a blue faced tach that would work with the HO electronics.

I currently own 9 Jeep factory radios. I don't really know what that says about me. I also have 6 Renix gauge clusters (only one fully working, sadly) despite only having one truck that uses them. One useful thing I collect is bolts. I've got 2 boxes full of them and working on a 3rd - that collection has saved my @$$ quite a few times.

I have a work in progress aux input solution for the 8956001910 (the AMC radio I recently bought). The NC8500 pre-amp this deck uses has similar attenuation features as the later Chrysler decks, and when tapping into its inputs with the standard aux cable I use there is negligible bleed-through. There are test points but the pins on the pre-amp are right under your nose so you might as well use them. More details... soon. It's roughly as powerful (with only 2 4-ohm speakers as to not risk overheating) as the 2467, probably a little less. Still haven't put it in a truck yet. Other than cool factor, this probably wouldn't be my first choice just because of how rare they are, and the possibility of overheating problems.

Yeah, I agree. Expensive for the condition too, but these are getting tough to find in working order so I thought someone might be interested in it.

The master cylinder can leak inside the cab too, so you may want to check your fusebox area if you haven't already.

Oh hey, my '91 is Silver Star Metallic too! It's a great color but the clearcoat really didn't hold up well. I've noticed my clearcoat gradually getting worse over the 5 years I've had my truck - started out as just a small spot on the roof and now the clearcoat failure probably covers a third of the entire roof. That's a great looking truck. Let me know if you're willing to let go of any of the maroon pieces, I'm especially interested in the B-pilliar trims if the speaker grilles aren't cut out and maybe the steering column.

Yeah, if my memory is correct one of the previous ads had a close-up of the glove box door and the plaque was an obvious fake... Comanche wasn't even spelled right on it. Sweet interior though, and that's the nicest Old Man Pants Blue interior I've seen in a looong time on the low mileage one.

A great candidate to add an auxiliary input while keeping a stock look. Also, if your truck has a dash clock this is a good candidate since you won't need to sync up 2 clocks. I've published quite a bit of information about these radios (as well as how to add the aux input) in my "what Minuit knows about stock Jeep radios" write-up. The ad says it "works great" and these are hard to find in working order these days. If you want to keep a stock look in your dash this is your best option IMO. If your truck is an 88-91, it's also what your truck would have come with new!

The Subaru Justy had selectable 4x4 as well on some models, but good luck finding one of those. Have to admit the AMC Eagles always have appealed to me in a weird way.

Yes, the seat mounting is the same for all years of the Comanche.

Hold on a second... Which sun visors are we talking about here? The ones in the cab? If so, yes they'll fit. There's 2 different lengths of them though, I believe 91 (possibly 90) and later are shorter than the older ones. The visor that goes on the outside of the cab are different between the XJ and MJ.

I hate 3.07 gears on 225/70/15 tires. 235/75/15s are pushing it IMO for 3.07s, any more will be unbearable.
