  1. An old time member did install the full window on his Comanche doors. Guy was in northern California. Think Don may know who it is?
  2. Krusty should be will be able to fix you up with a new bumper, new trailer hitch and new mounting brackets. All built stronger than stock. I have one of his "near stock" replacement bumpers to go on the 86 diesel Comanche when it gets back to California. His work is excellent! and his price is reasonable.
  3. First thing I would do is take the truck to a couple of body shops and have each one do a written estimate to repair - including checking the frame. Then you have real numbers and several different sets of eyes looking at the repair.
  4. If I recall correctly, 2.5 inch wide drums we're Dana 44 items. That said, there must be other sources for the different bits and pieces. Looking forward to hearing where you source these parts.
  5. Good deal on a nice, reliable truck. Congrats!
  6. My preference is the later 91 aluminum 15 x 7 wheel. But I am also in love with the Minilite magnesium wheels from many 1960's British sports cars.
  7. Is the seller in Quebec?
  8. Going to have to put a full cast on both his hands to control his Tweeting also.
  9. I have enjoyed all of your posts. So a very big thank you. Btw, I see more and more good looking Comanche trucks out there
  10. Will be very nice when you get a 2 post lift in there. Congratulations on the new home.
  11. Pete, What is the radio from and what is installed in? Might be a Liberty, but the radio seems to be a single DIN size.
  12. What "brand" replacement carpet did each of you buy? Perhaps that makes a difference??
  13. Yes, found them on Phoenix Craigslist. Had to drive to Phoenix for them. They are not for the Cherokee/Comanche. Rather for the Wrangler (?), In that exhaust connection is to the front, rather than the rear. Also the flange at the front has a slight bend that shows up with a full straight edge. If you want them, send me a P.M.
  14. Let us know if the foam tape helps with the rattles when you get the chance to test it. Squeaks, rattles and the like is what I notice most when going from a 2 year old car to a 20 year old car of truck. I do wonder about the long term performance of foam when it is compressed all the time. Did you consider using felt? But then, foam is available every where and regularly used for weather stripping. So maybe I am worrying about nothing.
  15. Pete, where the heck is the link to a writeup in your signature???? All I see is: Administrators 20453 posts Location: Detroit or Atlanta Report post Posted 3 hours ago yes you can. you'll just be counting notches until you swap on the trans. Quote Keep on Jeepin' on! --Pete 1988 MJ with a 4.0, TJ ax-15/231, 78 Bronco dana 44/9", custom bumpers/rollbar/etc... Swap in a relay harness for your headlights before it's too late!! CLICK HERE!! the new DIY master project search index: CLICK HERE!! Are you talking about using the DIY search?
  16. I like the KISS principle. I am also not a fan of busy complicated web sites that force video and sound on me by default. Listing "Hot Topics" is fine. A "donate here" link is fine. General Jeep news doesn't belong here. Too many other sites pitching that angle. Who thinks they are going to devote time and energy to do it "better" here? I like the image stuff suggested. But a wiki page has to be more work than getting our own DIY articles indexed. Right???
  17. That is exactly how I am running a full gauge cluster in my column shifted 91 automatic.
  18. Don't forget to get the shroud that matches the fan when you get it from the salvage yard! Most of the differences you see on Rock Auto fans are the name stickers and the grade of built to a price requirement. C.R.A.P. = Chinese Replacement Auto Parts.
  19. IMHO, better oil is the major reason car engines run longer than they did in the 1960's. Diesel spec oils get a lot of attention because diesel engines are just harder on every part of the engine. Modern oil lasts longer and protects better because of the additive packages. There is also the fact that the base stock is better because of improved refinery process. Another change that has helped cars last longer is the newer formulations for gasoline. Gas is a much more uniform product than it was before auto emissions. Back then, gas had a different formulation, depending on what ever product/component of the mix was cheapest. I run 10-40 oil in my cars. But I live in Southern California and all but my Comanche are in the garage at night. Noriyori's experience and advice are well worth listening to. He needs his equipment to run and needs to keep his cost under control.
  20. Wonderful, wonderful!! Thanks.
  21. If someone is set on stealing your particular trailer, car, or anything else, there is little you can do. But most thief's are opportunistic, so a little protection goes a long way. More likely a thief would want your truck.
  22. GrayWolf, Thanks for the response!... Great tip to bolt all three sections together first and then mount them.
  23. A turbo 2.5 should be very interesting!! Any number of recent VNT turbos out there that will support a great low end response and nice top end. For the he street, a smaller turbo is a better choice.
  24. I "suspect" that the Dakota bench seat is really a 3 part front seat. Seem to remember a thread from 7-8 years ago with the center console mounted much higher. Effectively a pair of bucket seats and a matching center console/3rd passenger seat. Have a pair of fold forward converted WJ seats in my 91 Comanche. My back really appreciates the change from MJ bucket seats.
  25. So what happened to your Chinook??
