That oil filter will not fit your 1986 2.5L. They gave you the wrong oil filter. The 1987 and up 2.5L uses a larger oil filter than the 1986 2.5L. I hope this info helps.

That isn't the correct shift knob for a Comanche.

That is very possible. I've seen a few of them with the wrong shifter knob. The VIN would tell you what transmission it had originally. The 2.8L V6 was not offered from the factory with a 4 speed, so if it actually does have a 4 speed someone put it in there at one time.

The transmission in the 1986 Comanche with the 2.8L V6 would be a 5 speed. The 2.8L V6 was never offered with a 4 speed. I hope this info helps.

My 1986 factory parts manual shows the part numbers as: Rotor: 3251156 Hub: 8953000228 It shows that these parts are for both the 4WD and 2WD. I hope this info helps.

The transfer case in your truck would be an NP207, not an NP231. The NP231 wasn't used until 1987. I hope this info helps.

Are you sure the truck is a 1987 and not a 1986? A lot of stuff on the truck looks like it's from a 1986.

The 4.0L never came with a 4 speed manual, Unless you meant 4 speed automatic. The 4x4 emblems were never put on the front fenders on any Cherokee or Comanche from the factory. On a 1989 Comanche the 4x4 emblems would have originally been behind the doors and under the cab vents.

Am I the only one that remembers this truck when it was on eBay a little over a year ago? It was the 1986 Comanche that the guy called restored and it had a 4.0L I6 in it. Here is a picture of the actual truck:

The 1986 2.5L could have either V-belts or a Serpentine belt.
