  1. The first year of the Jeep Comanche is 1986.
  2. I think the little yellow box is for delay wipers. Do you have delay wipers?
  3. Try this site. They sell the carpet and the vinyl floor mat for the Comanche. http://autocarpetoriginals.com/jeep_index.htm
  4. How did you find out when your 1986 was built? I would like to find out when my 1986 was built.
  5. Glad to hear that you figured out your problem.
  6. Nope, Just like Eagle said the clutch is not adjustable. I would bleed the clutch out really good though and see how it works then. The bleeding will not change where the clutch engages at. I would say the clutch must be really good if it's engaging that close to the floor. It has a lot left on it.
  7. Comanches never came with daytime running lights...
  8. Did you change both top bulbs in both taillights? There are 2 on each side 4 total. Both top bulbs in the taillights are supposed to be 2057 bulbs. Both top ones are the parking lights, stop lights, and turn signals. Alot of people have put a 1156 single filament bulb in one of them because alot of parts stores and the owners manual says the turn signals in the rear take a 1156 bulb which is incorrect. It was a misprint in the 1986 owners manual. I don't know about the new manuals. The turn signals are not seperate. Make sure both top bulbs are 2057 bulbs. If there is a 1156 in one of them instead it crosses both contacts over and causes all kinds of problems like the lights blinking back through the truck when the turn signals are on and other stuff. The bottom bulbs for the backup lights are supposed to be 1156 bulbs. The turn signals will blink all the parking lights on the dash and on the whole truck. This sort of sounds like what you're have with the lights blinking back and forth, but it's possible that it's a ground issue which is pretty common too. It really sounds like a ground issue somewhere. It could be one of the sockets that's bad. Hope this info helps.
  9. No... One says SporTruck and the other one says Eliminator...
  10. You should be able to get a tailpipe for the Comanche at any auto parts store if they don't have it on stock they can order it for you. Most likely they won't have it on stock and will have to order it. I got the tailpipe for my Comanche at Napa and they had to order it.
  11. A longbed S10 cap will fit. They have a 7 foot bed like the Comanche.
  12. Yours would have an L in the 5th digit of the VIN then.
  13. You can't tell from the VIN unless it is 1988 or older. I would bet yours had a 4 speed from the factory though. I have seen many 1989s with 4 speeds.
  14. The 2.5L came with a 4 speed or 5 speed. My 1986 with the 2.5L came from the factory with a 4 speed. What year is your Comanche? Is it 4x2 or 4x4? You can tell from the VIN if yours came with a 4 speed originally. Look at the 5th digit in the VIN if your truck is 4x2 it will have an S for the 4 speed. If your truck is 4x4 it will have an X for the 4 speed. That is if it had a 4 speed from the factory.
  15. The AMC Eagle is not made by Eagle the later Chrysler name. This is before their time. I have never seen an AMC Eagle come up as Eagle Eagle on Carfax. Calling it an Eagle Eagle is incorrect because they are not made by Eagle. All the ones I have ran on Carfax come up as American Motors Eagle. Which is correct because they were made by American Motors. Most people call them an AMC Eagle. I have a 1985 AMC Eagle 4 door Sedan. If you want to know more about these cars here is a site that tells all about them and their history. http://www.amceaglenest.com
  16. same here. I'm going to try to unplug the sensor on my splitter block. if the light goes off, then I know somethings up re: my brakes (I'm about to go under it and check for line leaks and such) but if it stays on, then its something else. BTW: if I hit a bump, it flickers a bit then goes out, hit anothe bump and back it comes. It sounds like it's the parking brake pedal switch causing your problem. The parking brake might not be fully disengaged or the pedal is hanging down a little bit causing the light to be on as if the brake is on. Try pulling up on the parking brake pedal with your hand when the light is on and see if it goes out. If it doesn't go out also try pulling the parking brake release and pulling up on the pedal at the same time just incase the pedal is still on one click or so which won't allow you to pull it up and see if the light goes out then. Hope this info helps.
  17. I don't think the 2.8L V6 ever came with a serpentine belt setup in the Cherokee or Comanche. They all had V belts. That might not even be a 2.8L V6. It's hard to tell.
  18. Well, by looking at the pictures the truck appears to be a shortbed which means it can't be a 1986 because all 1986 Comanches are longbeds. The shortbed wasn't offered until 1987, but the front header panel and hood prop look like they're from a 1986. The emblem on the fender is from 1987 and up too. The 1986 Comanche fender emblems are different. They are written in all caps and are bigger. Specific to 1986 Comanches only. I would say the truck is a 1987. The owner must have put the V6 in it. The only real way to tell is to look at the VIN. That will tell you what motor it had originally and what year it is. Hope this info helps.
  19. Yes, the ignition is supposed to turn back to accessory because mine does.
