looks like the Gladiator prices have been announced...
Jeep Driver replied to Pete M's topic in The Pub
I'll believe it when I see it. Sport (base) will be BASE at that price. Jeep will distribute limited BASE models to specific markets, for example, Knoxville will get one at $33K so that it can be advertised at that price. Besides, very few buyers will want a base-base Gladiator. My guess is that most base units will have next level package and will be priced at $38K. -
Trans cross member bolt broke
Jeep Driver replied to BeaterComanche86's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You'll be fine with three for a while. But, I'd fix it when you can. -
Here, this is the one, right where you are headed. We did this one 14 years ago, looks like it's better now than then. http://www.frrm.org/

Yes and I was going to suggest that............just didn't want to confuse matters. In fact, that is exactly what I would have done if need be. Also have the machine shop check balance and balance if necessary.

https://www.edisonfordwinterestates.org/ http://www.ringling.org/ These two places were where I took my wife on our second date.........class, I know how to get a woman. :) FL has a few hidden gems.

Yeah, my mom took my kids on the train, they had a good time. If you want beautiful beaches once you get down there........ Anna Maria Island, north beach, from residential area you can walk to the point, gorgeous. On the Pinellas side check out Fort Desoto, large park, great beaches, old fort, pier, quiet and tranquil. There is or was a train ride down in your area.......I forget where, fun and cheap by comparison. Also, Ringling Museum and the Edison museum/home is a MUST must see/do.......well worth your time. Otherwise you got all the tourist trappings.

I love history. This is the kind of thing you will stumble upon, back roads, middle of nowhere. Was able to walk through, very interesting. You'll find old schoolhouses and churches.............and..............

I'd say I don't envy you but I'll be making that very same drive this year. To Portage IN to see if my sperm donor is still alive.......sorry about that but he was never a father. And to Clearwater FL for a wedding in November. Old downtown Chat is a cool place but no recommendations and nothing you should waste your time with. The cool things to see are always on the back roads, the things you stumble across. 75 sucks.

Will 3" lift in front and 2" in rear look right?
Jeep Driver replied to jrl3's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
32s on GS standard springs. This is before the military wrap springs.......now sitting 1.25 inches higher. But, I cut......you may not have to. -
unknown connector near ignition coil
Jeep Driver replied to jpdriver1's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You should have a plug just like that going to the manual trans. 4 wires, plugs into separate harness. 2 wires for back up lights. 2 wires for 4X indicator lights. I suspect that is what that plug is. -
Yes, early knuckles have spindles........incompatible with any 'upgrade'. Later 2WD have unit bearings but not the removable caliper mounts. 88-89 4W knuckles are the ones to get and they are now hard to find. I looked at all of them a few years back.....Cobra Martys cobbled kit, Vanco, there are weld-on mounts....etc......... One thing you are going to find out once you start sourcing parts is just how expensive and how much work it is to cobble up a so-called junkyard upgrade. These are the ones to look for.

Will 3" lift in front and 2" in rear look right?

I have the same springs and the ACOS. You are going to be surprised at just how much the rear lifts. You'll likely be adjusting the ACOS to the rear height. -
Best XJ model to use for 2wd 4wd swap
Jeep Driver replied to rockincrawler's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
No, you cannot take AC from a '98 XJ and transfer it to your '88.......accessories are different. Yes, find an AX5 and T-case from a '98 Wrangler or XJ. Yes, get an 8.25 from a '97up XJ. You will have, or should have, 4.10 gears..........if you find an XJ '97 up with AX5..........those are the axles you want, will be 4.11s and are real hard to find. -
Good, that make you legit.....again.
-
Well............so.............did you buy it?
-
Yes, specifically Jeep. Spacer is for rotor/caliper alignment. Has nothing to do with axle shaft, IIRC. I vacillated on the WJ swap for a long time, I decided for me that it was total BS. Since you asked about steering-

There will be absolutely no peace of mind offered to you for replacing those.

I had to trim those skylights. This is actually greater than 3 stories high, 18' across. What you are doing there will get you hurt.

Drywall finisher on one of my jobs did something similar. Cost him 3 broken ribs, a punctured lung, and a concussion.

Mysterious "clunk", please help.

Adjustables give you options, options are always a good thing. -
A '96 2.5?
-
That looks pretty good, I'm impressed. Nice job. My 5125 part number is - 33-186542 If your static measurement is 20" to 22" these will fit. There are no MJ 'kits', spec your own shock, do your homework. Bilstein has a site and lists all their shocks with specs. https://cart.bilsteinus.com/Portals/0/BILSTEIN-OR-Catalog-2019(WEB).pdf I'm thinking of going 5165 next time around.

Actually I have a lot to say but I'll save it. I'm a news junkie, always have been. I've been listening 'news radio' and to 'talk radio' before talk was Talk. I spent my evenings in front of the boobtube watching 'news'. Seven years ago I could no longer accept the fact that I was being lied to, I kicked the TV to the curb, "TV" is not and will never again be invited into my home. After I kicked the boobtube habit I took to reading news articles, everyday I read 3-4 hours, for years. Anymore I can scan an entire article in seconds. If I cared about syntax and punctuation...........I could have written a better article, for sure. I have not read it nor do I need to. Predictable, entirely. I have no respect for anyone in the media, any media, human debris, pure scum. The writer is just another idiot with an agenda, he's too stupid to know the difference between MJ people and FSJ people. Below, for your entertainment-
