Drive it to a heavy truck repair shop and have them bust the nuts with a 3/4 drive impact........pay them the $10 and be done with it....get on with life. Have them snug up to get you home.....swap your joints.

CVs came on the 5.2 and 5.9 ZJs. Pretty sure about that.

That's interesting but they do not look right.

Nice piece. Yeah.........been there done that with the Xs. I never bad mouthed their mothers to them (daughters), I waited a long time for them to see for themselves. They respect me for it now though.

WHAT IS MY 86 TRANSMISSION?
Jeep Driver replied to ruralandalone's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The TC would have ATF......the trans would have.........well..........you could use 30W motor oil. -
I would figure it would be the same sheen as the bumpers.........matte is what I would call it.

Unless they fixed it Advance Auto Parts will present you with the wrong axle there online presentation and part number is incorrect you're better off going with the AutoZone part if you're going to swap over to the CV axles and as dirty stated you'll need to remove the tone rings they're just lightly pressed on is really do you remove them in 5 minutes really easy

NOS red console -- MJ specific
Jeep Driver replied to Gjeep's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
I just messaged seller to inform. Would be tempting......color change of course. -
There is no ujoint......CV joint. Mine came from a ZJ, I replaced one later from Auto Zone and it was $67. Pull the old one out and slide the new one in, that simple. For DD type driving with occasional use 4X.............CVs are just fine. Tight radius turning will improve 100000000%.

Pretty good deal really..........they pay shipping both ways. When you figure you're going to pay at least $300++ for a valve job anyway. https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-JEEP-CHEROKEE-LAREDO-4-0-0331-CYLINDER-HEAD-COMPLETE-91-07/222517961833?epid=1475313407&hash=item33cf1aa469:g:8hkAAOSw0hlZIEu6

I used to live there and Clearwater did head work for me but unrelated to your question. So, here is a recent testimonial..........take it for what it's worth. https://wranglertjforum.com/threads/rebuilt-tupy-head-vs-new-clearwater-0331-head.12398/

2.5L Knock-Is this the beginning of the end?
Jeep Driver replied to Nashmanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I read what people write and answer accordingly. FWIW, I discounted the pic of soot marks.......meaningless to me. -
2.5L Knock-Is this the beginning of the end?
Jeep Driver replied to Nashmanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Tons of blow-by. He does need to pull his plugs and read them..........bet they are saturated with oil. Valve seals are leaking for sure. -
Remember- The stat controls the temp in the engine/head.........coolant flows at 192/195. If you set your fan to come on late you are expecting your fan play catch up. Efans need to get ahead of the heat. On at 210 is too late. The neg wire off the switch is nothing more than a trigger wire for the relay. 16g is fine. The fan neg wire is straight to ground...........has nothing to do with the switch wire. Any ign source wire to trigger the relay..........tap into any wire under the hood is fine. 12g or 10g wire to the fan.........my SPAL has 14g wire off the fan...........so your supply of 12g should be fine. Remember........you are only running 2-3' of pos wire and about 12" to 18" of ground wire. Fused supply and relay to fan will be right there at the battery/fan...............NONE of this wire needs to be run any further. For the manual switch at the dash........ground at dash to switch then single ground wire to relay at ground trigger- same spade location as your temp switch connection.....basically you are overriding the temp switch circuit.

2.5L Knock-Is this the beginning of the end?
Jeep Driver replied to Nashmanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You're a smart guy........you already know what to expect. Yes, you'll get opinions based on two trains of thought here. One will say- Do a compression test, replace your PCV valve and change your oil.....Jeeps go for 500,000 miles. And then...........there is me. Based on your own assessment you've answered your own question. It's my assertion that you got exactly what a 2.5 was built to deliver.......good for 150K, if you took real good care of it- maybe 200K. There are no magic tricks, it's time for a rebuild. Also, when it's old and tired and it talks to you and tells you it's old and tired.........well, it's old and tired. -
The 2.5 does have the c-101 the 1986 Jeeps have no c-101

Floor pan question
Jeep Driver replied to All around mj's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Check out 3M's cavity treatment products for the floor supports and rockers.....etc...... Otherwise, treat the surface rust and leave it alone. No reason to take anything apart.
