  1. Yeah, 26/95 is the way we go now, beats the snot out of 75........whatta drag.
  2. Life before forums? People had buddies and mentors..........auto repair was a social function. Knowledge was handed down and a young man learned with a wrench in hand. Today........eh.
  3. Something there isn't right. Are you sure that is the harness for the pump?
  4. Someone posted a pic of their oil saturated engine bay and I cannot find it at the moment. Blow-by is when burnt and unburnt compressed gasses blow past the rings, this over-pressurizes the crank case. When you have blow-by you have power loss and heat builds under load. Essentially your engine is worn out. People don't want to hear this........but.........that's what it is.
  5. A shroud forces the fan to pull air through the radiator instead of from around the radiator. I don't do business with crockauto but here is a Mopar- https://www.ebay.com/itm/1987-2001-Jeep-XJ-Cherokee-4-0L-Radiator-Cooling-FAN-SHROUD-new-OEM-52027501AC/231423893970?fits=Year%3A1998|Model%3ACherokee|Make%3AJeep&epid=1731171214&hash=item35e1f061d2:g:eTcAAOxyOlhS6rvo:sc:USPSPriority!37843!US!-1
  6. BTW, jeepguy, you placed this in the NE forum instead of the SE forum. How dare you!
  7. I live here and I work in Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg. 99% of those who come are Wrangler types.........errr........Wrangler Snobs. There is a 1/2 dozen or so car shows/rod runs/cruise-ins here every year, wife and I usually go to the big cruise-in, lots of everything and usually a pretty good time. Several of these 'events' will last more than two weeks, the early birds begin to arrive a week early to get their spaces and hotels. Should you come? sure, of course. But if you live here and have to negotiate your way around..........a cluster-F of mammoth proportions, Pigeon Forge is really a pretty small town. Yeah, I'll be there, unfortunately. The Wrangler Snobs? The Wrangles and their drivers all begin to look the same with all their bolt-on-BS and behaviors and snobbery. One thing I find hilarious though- they take their doors off and have some kind of foot peg they hang on the door hinge so they can rest their foot outside.......little goofy gadgets and they all do it, funny to me.
  8. Have you looked at your '88 to see if the wiring for AC is present or are you just assuming that it is not? AC relay should be present (wiring). Clutch wire should be there. AC pressure switch terminal should be there. As far as I know that's about it.
  9. Knob-and-tube wiring (sometimes abbreviated K&T) is an early standardized method of electrical wiring in buildings, in common use in North America from about 1880 to the early 1940s.[1][2] It consisted of single-insulated copper conductors run within wall or ceiling cavities, passing through joist and stud drill-holes via protective porcelain insulating tubes, and supported along their length on nailed-down porcelain knobinsulators. Where conductors entered a wiring device such as a lamp or switch, or were pulled into a wall, they were protected by flexible cloth insulating sleeving called loom. The first insulation was asphalt-saturated cotton cloth, then rubber became common. Wire splices in such installations were twisted together for good mechanical strength, then soldered and wrapped with rubber insulating tape and friction tape (asphalt saturated cloth), or made inside metal junction boxes. I guess you missed my point. 30 years ain't ain't nothin in the grand scheme of things. The evolution of residential plumbing and electricity is a relatively new phenomenon. Electricity did not come to the area that I live in until about 1937........I've spoken to old timers here who remember life before electricity, and then they tell me in the beginning you were lucky if you had one light bulb.
  10. OK, I was guessing. Many of the houses I worked on in FL from the 50s lets say was wired with the same wiring you have.....was not uncommon for the time.
  11. Ever hear of knob-n-tube wiring? It's called evolution.........materials change over time. To answer your question- I suspect your house was built in the late 40s to early 50s, it was the materials that were available at the time, the height of technology for the era. Young people today assume that what is always was.......not so. Much if not all of what you use or consume or have come to expect out of an appliance or convenience has all taken place in the last 100 years.....what's old really ain't that old.
  12. $37 and saves you the pain in the --- https://www.drivetrainamerica.com/spicer-2-2-1379-1310-flange-adapter-yoke-ford-8-8/
  13. I suspect voltage is leaking to the metal box where it is clamped to the box. Glad I stayed out of this thread.
  14. Do yourself a favor, really. https://www.jegs.com/i/Powermaster/713/58137/10002/-1?&mrkgcl=1239&mrkgadid=3328062169&adpos=1o1&creative=329886787812&device=c&matchtype=&network=g&jegspromo=thirdparty&gclid=Cj0KCQjwjMfoBRDDARIsAMUjNZrADJmkBG3aoQtkbzk8xk7OToXUzKIRHPRahbASmioI67YcZIulLlMaAg3XEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
  15. Yeah, I suspect so.......regulated by the ECM. Some guys make a lot of work out of saving a penny or two.
  16. If you can expound on this a little more I'd appreciate it. Maybe after you get it put back together you can point out exactly what you had to do or get done to make it fit? Thanks

    SHOCKWAVE

I dig the hauler for sure........not so much what it's hauling.
  18. It's compatible..........same thing right on up through '95 I believe.
  19. You still have to mount a compressor and run hoses. Don't see the point in this.
  20. Here is what appears to be a nice straight clean driver- $3000 Look for something like this- https://augusta.craigslist.org/pts/d/waynesboro-1989-jeep-comanche/6909082860.html
  21. No way in hell would I spend that kind of money on someone else's misery. And that's precisely what you will buy, misery.
  22. Matte finish in powder coat. Which BTW, is pretty close to what a new factory bumper would look like.
  23. Just pointing out what I was pointing to- That sheen is closer to a gloss- what most automotive clears will look like. On a freshly painted black truck that bar will look great. For someone wanting to match a toned-down black trim......bumpers and vent covers, maybe flairs.....etc.......that bar isn't even close. Matte is closer to a 'semi' in powder coat than is what powder coat people call a semi. Just know what you are asking for.
  24. On a serious note- that is interesting, how men see color. I've worked for female decorators in the past, never again, total PITA to work for. I see color just fine, what I will miss though is the subtle shades between the hues. Taste is something that you have or you don't, same with appropriateness, I don't know that it can be acquired. Just as not every woman can wear the same dress- or should not, some know better, and well, others don't. Not every car/truck can wear the same paint, knowing the difference is a matter taste. A Comache cannot wear fuchsia, it's inappropriate to the truck.
  25. For 105 amp you can use one for a '86 Caprice with the V6. It's not a direct bolt in, you have to re-clock and drill a new hole in the bracket because it's about 3/4" taller. For a direct bolt in-
