Complete Brake System Overhaul
Jeep Driver replied to JustEmptyEveryPocket's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You need to study some more on the TC brake. No one makes a brake for the 231 but one company.....High Angle Drive and it's crap. Here is the brake caliper, this caliper is from or for a, Cub Cadet garden tractor- http://www.fourwheeler.com/product-reviews/131-0212-high-angle-driveline-emergency-brake/ You need to get serious about your parking brake...........you need it! Figure it out. -
Complete Brake System Overhaul
Jeep Driver replied to JustEmptyEveryPocket's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It doesn't work like that. Open.........lockers.........whatever, doesn't matter, with the DS locked the only way the vehicle will move is if the pull is greater than the traction of the rear tires. -
Your valve cover doesn't look right, like it tilted to the driver's side. Or, just a funky angle of the pic.

If I may make a serious suggestion- I found one Reflexxion hood in the 8-9 years I've been looking around. It was attached to a MJ roller for sale in the Panhandle, $800, but I could not get there at the time. Probably would have been worth the trip just for the hood. The cowl hood came with an inherent problem, just so you know, you could not open the hood without taking off the wiper arm. What I will be doing.........my suggestion- Find a hood, strip it, prime it. Find an acceptable cowl or scoop. Bond and finish, paint it. That's what I will be doing.

Or so it seems to me. Holley TBI and a distributor based electronic ignition.

Wife, son, and I went to the Jeep Invasion today in Pigeon Forge. Yesterday on my way to the job I noticed the Rigid tent/trailer there, I wanted to cruise the vendor lot. As some of you know I've been eyeing a pair of VisionX Light Cannons for which I'll be spending beyond $2K for. Rigid was in the running and I've seriously considered KC's offerings too. (I've looked and looked at JW Speakers off road lights......eh........) I'd like to see what is being offered, get my hands on them, talk to some reps......etc.......... We walked in with others but were stopped by a cop who told me I had to get a wrist band and he directed me to the 'gate'. I was told it would be $36 for the three of us. I'll be dammed if I'm going to pay for the privilege of spending my hard earned money! Screw Rigid.........their off the list. It's a good thing I didn't pay much attention to the others vendors there............screw them too. Many of these companies are internet based, we have no way of F2F and handling products that we spend good money on. As for the rest of it all.........sucked! Don't waste your time.

You've got a broken motor mount or trans mount or both.

All I wanted to do was walk through the vendor tents and I'm not paying 36 bucks to do it

HELP!! NO SPARK, NO START
Jeep Driver replied to 54bobby's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
That stepper motor is meaningless, unplug it, set the idle where you want it at the plunger and it will run just fine. If you have no spark.............this ain't the cause. -
HELP!! NO SPARK, NO START
Jeep Driver replied to 54bobby's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I don't believe you'll get fuel without CPS signal. No fire is likely coming from a bad coil. Just my guess from afar. Touching the cables together does nothing, did nothing. -
Starter relay blown fusible link
Jeep Driver replied to Cheapamanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Follow the harness from the driver's kick panel to the driver's tail light............the pump wiring is in the middle...........you have connectors to inspect and the ground for the pump is at the tail light. -
That's right if you're running a 98 ignition you must use a 98 flywheel

Revalving a powersteering pump
Jeep Driver replied to dustyinthedirt's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Smaller pulley = OVER driven. Larger pulley = UNDER driven. FWIW Also........just get a WJ pump, you'll be fine. -

91 Comanche electric window controls
Jeep Driver replied to k4g3d1's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Check the wires where they pass through the door jamb...........30 years of opening and closing the door will cause the wire to break. -
Two year olds don't care where they go nor will they remember where they went. There are only three places I want to go to or go back too and I've been there plenty. St Augustine Key West Washington DC And, well, I do like Ocracoke Island. And of course Jerusalem.......someday. I have been to Holland, E Germany, Denmark, and Sweden..........eh........it didn't make me much of world traveler. Oh, and I forgot, Mexico, what a S-hole. And I probably will get to Canada before I die, just because. I like it right here in the SE.

Starter relay blown fusible link
Jeep Driver replied to Cheapamanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
If the connector is not melted or destroyed, you'll get new clips an rebuild it just as you would a fuse block. Take the end of the wire back to good wire. -
The white smoke/steam is coolant being burnt off. If you have oil in your coolant you have coolant in your oil. It's over.

Starter relay blown fusible link
Jeep Driver replied to Cheapamanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
FWIW- I have no idea what the values are of the fused links. I've asked here in the past and no one else seemed to know. Links are available, at least at independent stores here and I've asked what the values are, no one here knows either. So, ask again, maybe someone will come up with something. I decided to go another route. Guess you'll need to decide also........maybe you can buy used ones from someone here? Or create your own fused panel?
