  1. There was a TSB to install a ballast resistor. Some 87s got this from the dealers. I have an 87 parts XJ that has one installed. My original 87 MJ has never had one.
  2. Welcome to the addiction. Since yours is an 89 - I am guessing it is a Renix (unless a PO did an engine swap). A number of things to do/get to make it road worthy. 1. Perform Cruiser's Renix Tips 2. Purchase Nickintimedesign's REM (Renix Engine Monitor). This will show you how the engine is performing. 3. Download the 88 Electric Service Manual. 88 and 89 are close in electrical wiring. I am sure there are other things to do as well. Others will chime in with the suggestions.
  3. That was just the Highway Admin "rollover/crash test." I don't think it passed, however.
  4. My 87 MJ A CJ2a or 3a A CJ8
  5. Any blood on the seats?
  6. I have an old shirt, but I need to upgrade it before July.
  7. Everyone who is attending should get ComancheClub shirts and/or hats. Wear the item around the show. The club with the most attendees wins a prize. CC pick up that prize in 2019. We should try to show our colors and win it again.
  8. Pete, you beat me to it. I was searching for the thread.
  9. I am not sure about the grills. Mine has the 10 slot grill. I picked up an 87 XJ with the 8 slot.
  10. Most likely would be any stickers and possibly color options.
  11. Not "hood"?
  12. The Corvair had a rear engine. Why would the hood have louvres? Kind of like the Willie Nelson commercial of him driving an old VW with louvres on the front.
  13. I had a problem with mine where the vacuum connector on the front axle no longer held vacuum. It couldn't pull the collar over to engage 4wd. First I performed the CAD bypass to make the vacuum lines unnecessary. Later, I sapped axles to a non-CAD. Problem solved!
  14. Do you mean, what controls shifting in to 4H and 4L? That would be the shifter in the cab. Look under the truck to make sure the linkage is hooked up properly and not binding against anything. If it is still won't shift, then the problem is internal.
  15. The vacuum hose controls the front axle central disconnect. It shouldn't control shifting the tcase.
  16. This thread was dead for 15 years!!!
  17. You want to be measuring DCV on the 20 scale. Car electronics run on DC not AC.
  18. There are/were two shades of tan. The top, like mine, is honey. I don’t know what years the honey was offered. I think it was only 87/88(?).
  19. Someone on CC several years ago showed his 87 with COMANCHE on the fender. I posted the fender must have been swapped with an 86 because of the all caps. He insisted it was an original 87 and original fender, also. I don't know if he had one of the early ones (or if he is still on CC). AMC may have been using up overstock parts before switching to the new Comanche.
  20. The Ford Model T had a three axle truck that could have tracks fit to the wheels on the two rear axles. https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.modeltfordsnowmobile.com%2Flcmainbriefhistory.htm&psig=AOvVaw0--0ZIN4zFWMwg2pyOvWC5&ust=1609716672821000&source=images&cd=vfe&ved=0CAIQjRxqFwoTCNCKh4a0_u0CFQAAAAAdAAAAABAD

    Beer

    Trying another one. 12.2% ABV
  22. We had a few dogs that were terrified of thunderstorms and fireworks. I have pictures of one of our dogs sitting in a bath tub, also. Several of them destroyed things in our house and/or camper when thunderstorms roll through and no one was home to comfort the dog. Our current dog is not as fazed by storms or fireworks.
  23. Tomorrow - hair of the dog.
  24. And beer kegs!!
