  2. to install an amp to a factory radio you need a line output converter. it takes the signals off the rear speakers and gives you RCA outputs that you can run to the amp. I have not done it to my vehicles but I have done it to quite a few others. the sound is OK the only thing is that you lack any control over the signal other then fade and balance from the radio.

    I wish...

hate to say it but I am hoping to bob my long bed in the future. and don't get angry because its either that or have the bed smashed up by trees, rocks or whatever else I have to squeeze through. :peek: besides if I need more cargo room I can just hookup this:
  4. the drive shaft loop looks like a nice idea. I would just have to make sure it is out of the way and wouldn't get caught while in the woods or on rocks. we had a guy in a Cherokee around whose front drive shaft broke going down the highway and boy did it do some pretty scary damage to his floor to the point I am surprised the still had his legs. his floor was patched up and it just ripped through it but I think he only had minor scratches. I cannot find the post on jeep forum.
  5. are you charging the optima with a charger meant for AGM batteries? I know they specifically say that you need a multi step charger to charge them. as for replacement I know you said you need a dry battery so you can mount it upside down but I have been hearing good things about die hard platinum lead acid batteries.
  6. what kind of tool box is that? and now much room is in it (interior pic if possible?). I have been looking for a tool chest around that size and cannot find anything in the inexpensive range.
  7. technically I did it yesterday but I shoveled all the snow off of it and then realised that my front liscence plate was missing (clips on to roller fair leads) it is either in a heep of snow right in front of it or somewhere in the back woods of my house from when I went in the wood to pick up a couple loads of firewood when there was no snow on the ground. guess I will have to wait till spring to find it :fs1:
  8. The pic under your name is called an avatar and the quote at the bottom of your post is called a signature. you can find them if you click on "user control panel" in the upper right at the top of the page. then on the left there will be a link "Profile" and then it will expand to include links including "Edit signature" and "Edit avatar".
  9. I dislike the cutting method, it allows a lot of space for water to flow through. one trick I use a lot for running wires through grommets is to get a small steel rod (I used the antenna off my parts Comanche and sharpened the ends to a point but only one end needs to be sharp). Carefully push it through which ever way is easiest and then tape the wire with electrical tape to the end of the rod. Then pull the rest of the rod through the grommet and the wire along with it. and tape it pretty well it is annoying when the tape slips off the end when you pull the rod through.
  10. my sender was cracked around the inlet and outlet tubes, both the tubes were able to spin. I managed to braze them and it turned on pretty well.

  13. pretty sure for the sending units they don't make them anymore. best thing is get them used (very hard to find). or have yours fixed there are a few sites that offer that service.
  14. that stinger bumper they have on the pic is atrocious!
  15. I have a winch and a liberty light bar and I have been ok with just a super $#!&ty walmart battery. :dunno:
  16. also do a Google search on "upgrading the big 3" and upgrade your stock battery wires and grounds with something beefier.
  17. well I think when I put the Die hard in I tightened up the ground to the engine compartment and that is what got it working again. I put the the optima and it is starting fine again. stupid me I didn't even think to check the ground. I know that optimas are not supposed to be charged from a dead state (less then 10.5 volts maybe) with a conventional charger. but I believe you can top them off with a conventional charger (but I'm not sure) and not hurt them. I have read a lot of negative reviews but for every negative thread I have seen there are a lot of people that have not had any problems with them. the only problem I have is what I believe is a parasitic draw which is my fault and not the battery. other then that it has worked fine.
  18. well after letting the die hard charge for a little it started and didn't want to stay running till I gave it a little gas to keep it going. guess its time to take this optima to be tested and see if it is just a giant brick. :fs1:
  19. no sparks when I hook up a battery, the parasitic drain may be what killed my yellow top but it wouldn't keep the car from starting when I put in a new(ish) battery. I know that battery my be poo also but I have it on a charger and I will be taking them both to be tested. I am also going to pull the ground and clean the contact point to make sure it has a good connection.
  20. situation: 03 Subaru Impreza 2.5rs Optima yellow top temp today: -17 ish tried to start my car today (sat since friday) and it wouldn't start battery was drained (trip reset because it didn't have enough to retain memory after cranking) tried jump starting with my fathers car and it would weakly turn the starter motor. pulled they yellow top out and put in an older new battery (die hard gold) and it did the same thing, chugged for a second and then nothing. I have the die hard on a charger right now and will try again in a little while. the battery has been giving me problems for a while (already toasted one optima under warrenty) and this one just ran out of its 2 year prorated a few days ago :headpop: . I did run a new ground with some 1/0 gauge wire (also have 1/0 for stereo system) and had an optima topper from tsunami http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_147 ... 01-PT.html pretty sure I have a parasitic drain also I need to get an ammeter to figure it out but it only drains the battery once in a while. but that should have nothing to do with why it will not start now even with a new battery. any suggestions on what to check?
  21. hey Pete, you have any idea how you are going to display them? I was looking at poster frames online and I think the price is way to high, I contemplated making my own but the price of acrylic is also ridiculous. the 2 posters I have are 25 1/2" by 38" and 20 1/2" by 54" dunno, maybe I am just cheap but over $50 for the (25.5x38) and around a $100 for the other seams like a lot to me. If only I could find a cheap source for acrylic plastic :dunno:
  22. I picked up those 2 a while ago, I gave them to my brother in law. unfortunately the guy only had one of the sketch ones. I have the 3 pane racing one but it is ripped in half :( and I have a side by side Cherokee/Comanche one my buddy also found a sign featuring a Comanche in his grandfathers stuff from when he owned a dealership, I have yet to pick it up. now I have to find a frame to put the posters in.
  23. Mine was stumbling and loosing power, I had a bad fuel pump replaced and when a friend with a shop replaced the fuel pump he didn't put the 2 hose clamps on the hose going from the pump to the sender tube. whenever it needed more gas it would squirt out the side of the hose and hit the top of the gas tank (all inside so I could not see it till I half removed the sender and had it squirt all over). pretty specific and my not be your problem but I figure I could suggest anyway. Good luck
  24. "Click here for Viagra" "Make money for free" "free Ipod" "Hello I from Nigeria, I am prince, you have money owed to you, send me lots of money and I send you 5 times that back." that is the kind of spammer that is a threat to your beloved forum. also "click here for sexy singles in your area" <--- that one always gets me :shake:
  25. can you find a Cherokee "Limited" and use either the L or i as an l because it may look weird with a uppercase L and modify the d to act as a b?
