I see a bucket catching fluid and a 2x4 to stop it from rolling away because the E-brake doesn't work. -

been seeing this for the past few days, thought about posting it didn't get the chance to take a pic. -
Metra suggests this one http://metraonline.com/part/71-1002 but I'm pretty sure that I remember someone saying that it is incorrect because the factory wiring has 2 connectors. for me if the situation ever came up where I couldn't find a harness I wouldn't cut off the factory one. Instead I would cut into the wire jackets and attach the after market wiring behind the factory connector so it would stay intact in case I had to put the factory radio back.
-
are these wires from the jeep or from the radio harness? after market the blue white would be power antenna or amp turn on (I always get them mixed up) and the orange black would probably be dimmer or illumination.

FC, MB, Willys pickup or maybe wagon, MJ, gladiator and hurricane concepts. 2 of each please, one stock and the other balls to the wall off-road. And as long as we are dreaming and I have cash to throw around I would like a street Cherokee dropped, lowered roof with an insane power plant just to mess with people.

R/T Specialties has them for $16 a pair. Do a quick google search and you will find them. how is their shipping costs? I ask because one site I found a while ago charged like 20 bucks to ship out the bolts, just a little ridiculous. are these the same thing? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/GMK-2111-749-681/ may be a few different options here also. http://www.google.com/search?source=ig& ... bb65e82229

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=11077 this is a how to post pics using photobucket, I have never used image shack before so I have no idea if there is a way to make the pics show up larger. and I'm not sure what sizes the websites limits pictures to. what kind of visors are you using? I grabbed some from a newer style XJ from a junk yard. with the overhead console I have I have to find a way to shorten them a little bit.
-
nice, I am looking to do the something similar. I have already glassed my headliner because it was getting a little ratty and to add some structure to it. I just need to trim it a little to make it fit again. I got an overhead console from a GM pickup and was hoping to eventually put a remote faceplate for my stereo in it. I also grabbed a rear overhead light form a newer Cherokee I am planning to mold into it. can't wait to see the finished product.

probably something with how the alarm senses that he doors are open. without you having you hands on during the install it would be harder to diagnose what is happening. my guess would be what was mentioned earlier. the alarm was probably set to sense if the dome light goes on and the computer in the car probably sends pulses through that wire randomly and the alarm thinks the doors are being opened. usually you have to diode isolate those wires so that the feedback doesn't occur.

This may help to get you the correct parts.

"97 Swap Fuel Pump Question
lostissues replied to Rymanrph's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have been thinking about this and was wondering if there was any way to just add a converter to the signal line of the gauge wire. I'm not great with EE stuff but I would think it would be easy to take the Comanche signal (I assume it is an ohm reading with a higher number meaning full tank and a lower number meaning empty tank or the other way around) and making a circuit that would take the ohm sweep and convert it to the readings that a newer Cherokee gauge cluster could read and understand? like if the Comanche rheostat put out a reading of 100ohms for full and 0ohms for empty and a Cherokee put out a reading of 50ohms for full and 0ohms for empty couldn't you make a circuit that translated the information? so in this example if the Comanche rheostat read 75 (3/4 of 100) the circuit could translate it to read 37.5 (3/4 of 50) just thinking out loud. -

could be just a bad radio. may want to grab one from a junk yard. just be sure that you can test it and return it if it doesn't work. also check the wiring mainly in the door boots and leading to the speakers. make sure the wires are attached to the speaker well and that the wires are not dry rotted and cracking (very common in Cherokees for the wires to dry rot and crack in the door boot). maybe replace the speakers if they are not in very good condition.

Radio wires (could use the help right now)

you probably used the illumination wire as the switched power wire -
I have the 10,500 version of the Rugged Ridge. I have used it a couple times, pulled a van out of a snow bank, and flipped a large bolder a couple times. Works well so far. I am pretty sure it is the same as another bigger name one (can't remember which) just with different badging.

What mirrors are you running
lostissues replied to 91coMANche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
another vote for the 97+. during the dreaded c4c debacle :fs1: I picked up a set of power heated mirrors for my truck, why you ask? why not. I wired up the doors but have not connected them past going through the door boot. but they look 100 times better. -

looking through Google real quick I found another thread discussing it. the bulbs 9006 bulbs and are 51 watts each. they are Hella brand lights that were custom made for the renegade. -

I laid the base on the roof and centered it where I wanted. I marked the mounting holes, I think there are 6 and I may have added one or two to give it a better hold. then I drilled the holes and put some nutserts I got from monsterfastener.com pretty sure these are them: http://monsterfastener.com/itemview.aspx?itm=BNIS-053 I used these screws (again I'm pretty sure but not positive) http://monsterfastener.com/itemview.aspx?itm=SCSS-201 then I picked up some locking washers and regular washers at Lowes or Home Depot I used the rivet gun I got from harbor freight http://www.harborfreight.com/3-in-1-riv ... 94100.html comes with aluminum rivnuts, don't use them because the metals aluminum will not like the steel. and I used a sealant just to make sure it didn't leak. I also drilled a hole for the wiring. I had a door pin wiring harness from a mid 90s Cherokee I picked up at the junkyard thinking I could replace mine but it would not fit. but the grommet was a nice size so I cut the wire and used the grommet. that is all I did to mount the lights. for wiring I used some 12 gauge wire I got at Walmart. a plug from a 10 blade electric fan from a Cherokee. and I re purposed a hacked up relay center from a 97+ cherokee. I soldered and put heat shrink on the plug to the wires and grounded it near the kick panel. ran the power through the firewall through a grommet and hooked up up to a relay powered the relay from my blue seas fuse block ran the relay trigger wire inside and hooked it up to a factory fog light switch I snagged from the junk yard. any questions? requests for pictures? just let me know. -
Installing an aftermarket stereo
lostissues replied to cicelyak's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I would say don't use the kit. just buy the wiring harness and use the bracket that is on the factory radio or try and find one at a junk yard or for sale somewhere. -
KJ renegade Lightbar on an MJ
lostissues replied to Dirteatr717's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I watched ebay for a while and found a buy it now for 300 shipped. it didn't come with the light covers but the fuzz hasnt said anything yet. and for what its worth the wire connector they use is the same wire connector as a 10 blade electric fan for a Cherokee so I snagged one from a junk yard for the wiring I had to add to it. -

it fits pretty well, the ends do pop up a little but it is not very noticeable. the bottom base gets sucked down by the screws but the cover is what sticks up a little bit. here is a little closer pic but at this angle you cannot see the little part that isn't contoured to the roof. I would wait it out for a used one. I got mine from LKQ on ebay. payed 300 shipped, still a bit much for lights but I wanted them. just use this link and make a bookmark for it and check it every once in a while. it filters out the crappy Hong Kong made light bar you strap on with 2 sided tape and run the wires through the door :ack: http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid ...
